{"id":9543,"date":"2025-12-01T16:58:37","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T12:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aztu.edu.az\/sdg\/?p=9543"},"modified":"2026-03-11T17:01:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T13:01:48","slug":"innovation-and-sustainability-laboratory-launched-at-aztu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aztu.edu.az\/sdg\/innovation-and-sustainability-laboratory-launched-at-aztu\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation and Sustainability Laboratory Launched at AzTU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the framework of collaboration between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Dithari Technologies, the DISC (Digital Innovation, Sustainability &amp; Circularity) Innovation and Sustainability Laboratory has officially started operating at the university.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The laboratory aims to develop digital innovation, circular economy, and sustainable IT practices, while providing an accessible and open practical environment for students, faculty, and the wider public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new laboratory offers opportunities for reducing electronic waste, refurbishing and reusing IT equipment, as well as research and education in green technologies and sustainable production models. In addition to AzTU students and staff, the DISC laboratory will serve as an open platform for professionals working in this field and anyone interested in sustainability and digital innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the opening ceremony, it was emphasized that the launch of the laboratory strengthens the university\u2019s strategy for sustainable development and digital transformation, enhances students\u2019 practical skills, and expands collaboration between industry and academia. The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of environmentally responsible innovations in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The laboratory will host practical training on electronic waste recycling and equipment refurbishment, educational and research projects in circular IT and sustainable technologies, innovation and incubation support for student and startup teams, pilot projects and seminars with industry partners, as well as thematic workshops and training sessions for professionals and the general public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It should be noted that the activities of the DISC Laboratory align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>SDG 4 \u2013 Quality Education:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Innovative teaching and practical workshops for students.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>SDG 9 \u2013 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Development and application of new technological solutions.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>SDG 12 \u2013 Responsible Consumption and Production:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Reduction of electronic waste and promotion of circular IT models.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>SDG 13 \u2013 Climate Action:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">
