10 years have passed since the April Battles, which demonstrated the victorious spirit of our Armed Forces.

The successful counter-offensive operation carried out by the Azerbaijani Army on the night of April 1–2, 2016, in response to provocations by the Armenian armed forces, marked the beginning of the glorious path leading to the full liberation of our territories from occupation.

These battles are remembered with pride and honor by our people and state as the beginning of a great victory.

Thanks to the professionalism of our army, the so-called “invincibility” myth about the Armenian armed forces was shattered, as they suffered heavy losses in both manpower and military equipment, while the determination of our nation for victory was strengthened.

As a result of decisive strikes by our units, the Armenian army lost around 30 tanks, more than 25 artillery systems and other armored vehicles, 320 soldiers were destroyed, and more than 500 were wounded.

More than 2,000 hectares of previously occupied territory were liberated, including the strategic Lalatapa height, the village of Jojug Marjanli in the Jabrayil district, and thousands of hectares of strategically important land that came under the full control of our Armed Forces.

The courage and professionalism of the Azerbaijani Army were clearly demonstrated in these battles. The April Battles became an important turning point both militarily and psychologically. The advantage gained by the Azerbaijani Army strengthened the nation’s belief that our lands would be liberated by military means.

The April Battles laid the foundation for the path to victory in the liberation of our territories and served as a significant test experience for our army.

The April victory, which became a celebration of unity between the people, state, and army, also went down in history as an expression of the Azerbaijani soldier’s professionalism, the strength of our armed forces, and the extraordinary heroism of our citizens.

During the April Battles, graduates of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) — Mahir Guliyev, Abdulmajid Akhundov, Mushfig Orucov, and Elvin Mirzayev — rose to the highest peak of martyrdom.

The April Battles showed the world that Azerbaijan would never reconcile with occupation and became the foundation of the glorious victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War.

On September 27, 2020, in response to large-scale provocations along the entire frontline by the Armenian armed forces, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation, which ended in a magnificent historic victory within 44 days.

As a result of successful military operations in the Patriotic War, anti-terror operations, and post-war actions, the revenge for our martyrs was taken, separatism was ended, the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan was fully restored throughout the country, and our territorial integrity and sovereignty were ensured. Large-scale reconstruction and restoration works also began in the liberated territories.
