The Kazakh-German University in Almaty (DKU) organized a training workshop on Sustainable Lifestyles for Universities as part of the project “Sustainable Lifestyles at the Universities of Central Asia and the Caucasus.” Supported by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Tbilisi, Georgia, the workshop took place on March 14-15, 2024. During the event, Azerbaijan Technical University was represented by Natavan Namazova, head of the Institute of Sustainable Development.  At the meeting, attendees shared international and regional best practices regarding sustainable lifestyles. Discussions also revolved around potential collaborative actions aimed at fostering the development of sustainable lifestyles in the region. The ultimate goal was to contribute positively to the ongoing advancement of sustainable living practices within the community. Organized by Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the Baku Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the Union of Student Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan (ATGTI), and student youth organizations affiliated with higher education institutions, a student scientific conference on “COP Requirements: Climate Change and Resistance to Natural Disasters” took place in Baku on April 15th. The official inauguration of the scientific conference commenced with the rendition of the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the integrity and sovereignty of our nation. President Ilham Aliyev’s initiatives to designate 2024 as a year of solidarity for the “Green World” and to host COP29 in Azerbaijan will foster an environment conducive to enhancing the involvement of young people in environmental initiatives. Professor Vilayat Valiyev, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, made this statement during his address at the conference held on April 15, focusing on “COP Requirements: Climate Change and Resilience to Natural Disasters.” V. Valiyev remarked that the conference convened at Azerbaijan Technical University holds significant importance. It is imperative to underscore our country’s initiatives in this domain and the consequential measures. “COP29 stands as a pivotal conference globally, addressing paramount topics such as nature conservation, environmental sustainability, green infrastructure, biodiversity, and renewable energy.
