A event dedicated to February 2 — Azerbaijan Youth Day was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), organized by the AzTU Trade Union Committee (TUC) and the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC).
First, the memory of the homeland’s sons who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was honored with a moment of silence, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
Elvin Bəkhtiyarlı, Chair of the AzTU TUC, shared his congratulations on the occasion of Youth Day. He spoke about the youth policy in the country and the care and attention given to young people. The TUC Chair noted that various events and interactive competitions are held throughout the year at AzTU to develop the knowledge, skills, and innovative ideas of students and young teachers.
AzTU Vice-Rector Rashad Əliyev gave a brief history of Youth Day. He remembered the initiator of the day, the national leader Heydar Aliyev, and spoke about his role and efforts in shaping youth policy.
Next, Aytən Shıxəliyeva, Head of AzTU Human Resources Department, Dr. Anar Əmiraslanov, Head of “Dent House Group,” and Samid Səfərov, Head of “Prestij S Training Center,” congratulated the youth and wished them success and continuous self-improvement.
Within the framework of the event, the results of the traditional competition organized annually by the TUC on Youth Day were announced. The competition involved young staff members who defended their candidacy dissertations, published scientific articles, actively participated in AzTU’s social life, and stood out for their discipline throughout the year.
According to the competition results, Ramil Dadaşov won 3rd place in the “Promising Young Person of the Year” nomination, Şamxal Əliyev took 2nd place in the “Professional Young Person of the Year” nomination, and Rüxsarə Seyfullalı won 1st place, becoming the winner of the “AzTU Youth – 3” competition.
The winners of the competition, as well as young staff members distinguished by their discipline and contribution to the university’s activities throughout the year, were awarded honorary certificates and gifts.
