AzTU Staff and Students Participate in “Bootcamp” in Shamakhi

The next “Bootcamp” dedicated to the project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Precision Agriculture” was held in Shamakhi, jointly organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Shamakhi District Executive Authority.

The Bootcamp, organized within the framework of the Wine and Grape Festival, was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU): Ali Mustafasoylu, student of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology; Selcan Karimli, student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications; and Omar Alasgarov, trainer-constructor at the Research and Design Laboratory of the “SmartTech” Innovation Center.

The main goal of the Bootcamp was to promote the use of digital technologies in agriculture, enable young people to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical skills, and support the development of the startup ecosystem in the agrarian sector.

As part of the program, specialists from agribusiness companies as well as experts from more than 10 acceleration and incubation centers delivered presentations. They shared insights on improving the participants’ projects, possibilities for industrial application, commercialization, and market entry.

Participants presented a variety of innovative ideas and models, including:

  • a unified platform for marketing biotechnologically produced plants,
  • automated irrigation systems and sensor technologies,
  • smart software for agricultural management,
  • eco-friendly fertilizer production through filtering fish waste from reservoirs and aquariums,
  • a local GPS tracking system for livestock based on the Concox Qbit-4G module,
  • environmentally friendly production of propanediol molecules via biological fermentation,
  • and an application for early detection of plant diseases using photo analysis.

To further enrich participants’ knowledge and experience in the agricultural sector, an infotour was organized to local enterprises in Shamakhi. Students and staff visited the facilities of “Az-Granata” LLC, the Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking Research Farm, and “Shirvan Wines” LLC, gaining first-hand exposure to real production processes.
