AzTU THIC Chair: “The Summer Camp for Students is a Platform Creating New Opportunities for Youth.”

From September 8–13, active students of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Student Trade Union Committee (THIC) participated in the “Summer Camp for Students” held at the “Education” Recreation Center. Below is an interview with Mirmammad Alakbarli, Chair of AzTU THIC, about the camp.

– What aspects of the “Summer Camp for Students” stood out for you?
This camp was not just a productive way to spend the summer holiday, but also a platform that created wide opportunities for students to develop their social skills, strengthen communication with peers, and enhance their teamwork abilities. Students from various universities established new friendships and collaborations, expanding their horizons. I believe AzTU students also spent a meaningful and enjoyable time at the camp.

– What role did AHIK and ETIH play in this event?
I believe that the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) and the Union of Education and Science Workers (ETIH) attach great importance to the personal development of young people and students. With their support, such camps ensure the social protection, efficient use of leisure time, and professional growth of young people. This event once again demonstrated that trade unions are carrying out real and tangible work for the welfare and development of youth.

– What can you say about the participation of other universities?
What pleased me most was the active involvement of students and THIC chairs from partner universities. Their positive engagement and initiatives contributed significantly to strengthening cooperation and friendship among young people. Such joint activities foster inter-university relations and open new perspectives for our students.

– Your closing thoughts?
I am confident that projects like the “Summer Camp for Students” have a major impact on both the social and professional development of young people. The opportunities created by AHIK and ETIH strengthen students’ connection to the trade union movement. With the support of unions and the active participation of partner universities, such initiatives will continue to lay the foundation for successful joint projects among young people in the future.
