The Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Vilayat Valiyev, led a delegation on a business visit to RWTH Aachen University in Germany, one of the world’s leading universities. The delegation also included Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Subhan Namazov and Head of the Research and Development Department Bakhtiyar Badalov.
During the visit, Rector Valiyev highlighted AzTU’s successful cooperation with German universities and shared insights on the university’s strategic priorities. A meeting with Professor Thomas Gries, Director of the Institute of Textile Technologies (ITA) at RWTH Aachen, focused on expanding collaboration under the initiative of “Synergia Academy.” Discussions covered joint scientific research and education projects, the launch of the German Research Internship Program, the establishment of a Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory, and the development of an industry-oriented mini-MBA program. Both parties also considered joint certification programs, collaborative research projects and conferences, and preparing a memorandum of understanding to promote mutual support in international rankings.
As part of the visit, the delegation explored ITA’s multidisciplinary research laboratories built on strong university-industry collaboration. They examined recent megatrends driving ITA’s development, held discussions, and identified real opportunities for joint work.
