Commemoration Day Event Held at AzTU

The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) hosted an event dedicated to September 27 – Commemoration Day.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of the sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, followed by the performance of the National Anthem.

In his opening remarks, AzTU Rector, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, noted that Commemoration Day is both a solemn and honorable date, marking the beginning of Azerbaijan’s historic victory. He emphasized that the 44-day Patriotic War opened a new chapter in the country’s military history. Launched under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the war began on September 27, 2020, with the rallying call “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” giving strength to the national army and ultimately ending three decades of occupation. The rector added that, even five years later, the modern technologies applied in the war and the bravery of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces remain subjects of global military research.

Veteran of the Patriotic War, Ramil Shirinov, underlined the decisive role of the heroism, professionalism, and unity of the Azerbaijani people and soldiers in restoring the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Another veteran, Rashad Aslanov, stressed that patriotism is not limited to wearing a military uniform, but is reflected in the conscientious performance of one’s duty in all walks of life. Following this, the war veterans presented a certificate of honor to AzTU student Rashvin Shiralizade for her continuous efforts in promoting patriotism and supporting families of martyrs and veterans.

The event continued with a performance by AzTU’s “Paradox” Theater Club, which staged the play “Unfulfilled Dreams” based on Yefim Abramov and Leyla Bayim’s work “Dreamer Boys.” The play was dedicated to the memory of the martyrs who lost their lives during the 44-day war.

At the conclusion, People’s Artist Valeh Karimov praised the acting skills of AzTU students, highlighting the importance of cultural and artistic expression in nurturing civic values.
