A delegation from the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), including Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Dr. Subhan Namazov, and Director of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Bakhtiyar Badalov, paid a working visit to Islamabad, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to strengthen academic and research cooperation with the country’s top-ranked universities. The delegation was also joined by Jale Karimova, a representative of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education.
During the visit, the delegation held official meetings with several of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions, including the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), COMSATS University, FAST–National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Bahria University, and Air University.
Extensive discussions were held on potential areas of collaboration, including joint research projects, co-authored scientific publications, and the establishment of shared research platforms. At NUST — one of Pakistan’s foremost engineering and innovation-oriented universities — the two sides discussed the creation of a Joint Center of Excellence, publication of research in high-impact international journals, development of certificate programs, and faculty exchange initiatives.
At COMSATS University, Rector Professor Sajid Qamar expressed readiness to collaborate with AzTU. Both sides agreed on organizing joint scientific conferences, enhancing cooperation for international ranking performance, co-publishing indexed scientific papers, and launching short-term visiting professorship programs.
During the meeting with Professor Aftab A. Maroof, Rector of FAST University, both institutions welcomed the idea of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), jointly utilizing existing laboratory infrastructure, and developing co-supervision opportunities for doctoral and master’s students. Similarly, discussions with the leadership of Bahria and Air Universities resulted in agreements to sign future MoUs and promote reciprocal research collaboration.
Throughout the visit, the AzTU delegation familiarized themselves with the technical, research, and laboratory facilities of the host institutions and identified practical directions for cooperation. As a result, both parties reached an agreement to sign multiple MoUs and expand scientific, innovative, and academic partnerships between AzTU and Pakistan’s leading universities.
