A workshop titled “Balancing Electricity Supply and Demand in Azerbaijan – Optimization of Generation, Transmission, and Consumption” was held at Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant LLC, jointly organized by Mingachevir State University (MSU) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
The workshop was organized within the framework of the Strategic Cooperation Memorandum on the joint establishment and operation of the “Electric Power Engineering Research Cluster” signed between MSU and AzTU.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of the Education Quality Assurance Agency under the Ministry of Science and Education, Tural Ahmadov, Rector of MSU Anar Eminov, Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev, as well as executives and staff of AzerEnergy JSC, Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant LLC, and Mingachevir Hydropower Plant LLC, along with representatives of both universities.
Moderated by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, the workshop featured presentations by Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of AzerEnergy JSC Uzeyir Yusifov, Director of Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant LLC Tahmasib Huseynov, Director of Mingachevir Hydropower Plant LLC Oqtay Pirverdiyev, Vice-Rector of AzTU Fariz Mammadov, Dean of the Faculty of Energy at AzTU Huseyngulu Guliyev, as well as MSU lecturer and employee of Azerbaijan Thermal Power Plant LLC Qadir Mammadli.
The Director of AzTU’s Institute of Defense Technologies and Cybersecurity, Rahid Alakbarli, also shared his views on the topic.
The presentations and discussions focused on balancing electricity supply and demand, optimization of generation capacities, the role of transmission networks, integration of renewable and conventional energy sources, and the importance of university–industry cooperation. It was emphasized that jointly organized workshops of this kind make a significant contribution to the development of human capital.
