Within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”, the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) jointly organized an event titled “The Victorious Successor of the Path of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.”
Before the event, participants visited the bust of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern independent Azerbaijan and the nation’s National Leader, located in the administrative building of the university, paying tribute to his memory.
A moment of silence was observed in honor of Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, followed by the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Rector of AzTU, Vilayat Valiyev, in his speech, emphasized that the leadership of a national leader in state governance is not only the foundation for successful development but also crucial for strengthening stability, ensuring sustainable progress, and establishing a strong civil society. He stated: “President Ilham Aliyev’s words, ‘Our word is as valuable as our signature,’ reflect the practical fulfillment of his promises. A vivid example of this is the liberation of our territories and the raising of our tricolor flag across all regions. President Ilham Aliyev, who promised to be the leader of every Azerbaijani and has consistently demonstrated his commitment through his extensive actions, has earned the deep respect and admiration of our people. The President’s unwavering dedication to Azerbaijan’s national interests has united our nation around him.”
Rector Valiyev further noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s purposeful policies contribute to national development and the protection of national interests: “These policies also strengthen Azerbaijan’s international position and enhance the welfare of our people. The President’s domestic and foreign policy successes have turned Azerbaijan into an island of stability, a center of multiculturalism, and a safe venue for global events. It can be confidently said that President Ilham Aliyev’s work will continue to strengthen our nation.”
Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of YAP and Head of the Central Apparatus, stated that contemporary Azerbaijan is closely linked to the enduring ideas of National Leader Heydar Aliyev: “Heydar Aliyev’s visionary policies, based on national interests, ensured the continuity, permanence, and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, bringing numerous successes to our people. Today, we proudly recognize that the modern Azerbaijani state—a source of pride for each of us—is the greatest moral and political legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.”
Budagov emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev has enriched and implemented Heydar Aliyev’s inexhaustible statecraft legacy to meet contemporary challenges, achieving unprecedented successes. He noted that the unity between the people and the government has been strengthened, Azerbaijan has become a regional leader, and it is recognized worldwide as a reliable and constructive partner: “Most importantly, Azerbaijan, having strengthened its economic, political, and military power and consolidated its international position, has restored its territorial integrity and full sovereignty, reaching the peak of Victory. President Ilham Aliyev, honoring the will of his father and fulfilling all promises made to the people, has transformed Azerbaijan into the victorious and powerful state envisioned by our National Leader and has sequentially implemented strategic goals, creating new prospects not only for our country but for the entire region.”
Budagov also highlighted that President Ilham Aliyev’s independent and decisive policies are aimed at maintaining socio-political stability, national unity, sustainable socio-economic development, improving citizens’ welfare, successfully implementing the Great Return to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, and ensuring peace, security, and multi-dimensional cooperation in the region. He recalled National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s prophetic statement: “The time will come when Azerbaijan will rise like the sun to the world.” He noted that today, building on the strong foundations laid by Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev has established a modern, sovereign, united, and new Azerbaijan. Budagov added that the Azerbaijani people, united around their Victorious Leader, will continue to achieve national goals and secure new victories for a stronger Azerbaijan.
During the event, speakers discussed Heydar Aliyev’s rich legacy in statehood and the achievements resulting from President Ilham Aliyev’s purposeful policies.
Newly admitted university staff members were awarded membership cards of the New Azerbaijan Party, followed by the singing of the party anthem. The program concluded with an artistic performance and a commemorative group photo.
