Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), within the framework of cooperation with Elsevier, one of the world’s leading international scientific publishing and analytics companies, has obtained access to the SciVal scientific-analytical platform. For this purpose, a relevant agreement was signed between the parties, enabling AzTU’s academic and administrative staff to use the SciVal platform.
SciVal is a widely used international analytical tool in higher education and research institutions for analyzing quantitative and qualitative indicators of scientific activity, assessing institutional performance, identifying research collaboration networks, and monitoring the positioning of research outputs within the global scientific environment. The use of this platform will contribute to improving research management processes at AzTU, building data-driven strategic planning, and strengthening the university’s position in international rankings.
Within the framework of this cooperation, on 15 December 2025, a training session dedicated to the functional capabilities of the SciVal platform was conducted for AzTU’s senior management by Saida Sak, a representative of Elsevier. During the training, the platform’s main modules, indicator system, methodologies for measuring research productivity, and mechanisms for using SciVal analytics in university-level decision-making processes were explained in detail.
The training session also highlighted the opportunities created by SciVal for evaluating scientific performance at AzTU, identifying priority research areas, expanding international scientific collaboration, and increasing the efficiency of academic governance. It was noted that the analytical data provided by the platform will play a significant role in shaping and implementing the university’s scientific strategy.
It should be noted that at the next stage, additional training sessions and methodological support mechanisms for AzTU’s academic staff on the use of the SciVal platform are planned. These initiatives will contribute to the deeper integration of the university’s research activities into the international scientific community.
