An awareness-raising event on organ donation was held for students at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), organized by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of AzTU with the initiative of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Coordination Center operating under the Ministry of Health. The aim of the event was to increase students’ level of awareness about organ donation and to contribute to the formation of public consciousness in this field.
AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, spoke about the moral and social importance of organ donation and emphasized the significance of educating students in this direction.
Gunay Abbasova, Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Coordination Center, provided detailed information on the importance of organ donation, the measures implemented in Azerbaijan in this field, and the existing application mechanisms. She noted that organ donation and transplantation in Azerbaijan are regulated by legislation.
Mehriban Aliyeva, physician-coordinator of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Coordination Center, presented international experience in this area to students through slides.
