Students and faculty members of the Department of Chemical Technology, Recycling and Ecology at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) participated in field research around Boyukshor Lake as part of a water project.
The visit was aimed at enhancing practical knowledge on the protection of water resources, monitoring water quality, and sustainable water management within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation – SDG 6).
During the research, students collected water samples from the project site implemented by Azersu OJSC and carried out by the Aqualing company. The samples were taken to assess water quality, determine pollution levels, and study the ecological condition of water resources.
The fieldwork provided students with an opportunity to gain practical experience in key areas such as water resource protection, wastewater management, water treatment technologies, and environmental monitoring. These activities are directly related to the main principles of SDG 6, including ensuring safe and accessible water resources, promoting efficient water use, and protecting water ecosystems.
During the visit, representatives of the companies involved in the project provided detailed information about the measures being implemented around Boyukshor Lake in the areas of water management, wastewater treatment, and environmental protection.
