On the occasion of World Civil Defence Day (March 1), a seminar titled “Management of Environmental Risks for a Sustainable and Stable Future” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
Opening the event, Vice-Rector for General Affairs Fariz Mustafayev emphasized that ensuring environmental safety is an important component of the national security strategy. He highlighted the significance of sustainable development, preparedness for emergencies, and proactive risk management.
Later, the Head of the Occupational Safety and Technical Security Department Vidadi Mustafayev and the department’s leading engineer for emergency situations and civil defence Afar Ibrahimov delivered presentations. They provided detailed information on global environmental problems, anthropogenic impacts, as well as mechanisms for assessing and managing environmental risks.
It was noted that accurate risk assessment, the implementation of early warning systems, and effective management mechanisms play a crucial role in building a safe, sustainable, and stable society.
The speakers also stressed that promoting environmental protection, strengthening public safety, and ensuring accountability, transparency, and responsible decision-making contribute to institutional resilience and are key factors in reducing environmental risks.
At the end of the event, a video related to the topic was presented and participants’ questions were answered. Within the framework of the seminar, the importance of joint action in reducing environmental risks, strengthening resilience to emergencies, and promoting sustainable development was once again highlighted.
