The Special State Protection Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (XRIDTX) organized a new competition at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) during the first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year to assess the cybersecurity knowledge and skills of undergraduate and graduate students.
Based on the final results, Mahmud Rahimli and Omar Verdizade, 3rd-year students of the Information Security program at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications, as well as Aydin Shukurli, a master’s student specializing in State Information Systems Security at AzTU’s Institute of Higher Education, distinguished themselves and were declared winners.
The award ceremony was attended by Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, Deputy Chief of the Special State Protection Service, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of AzTU, and other representatives. The speakers highlighted the importance of cooperation between state institutions and higher education establishments, emphasizing that preparing young specialists in cybersecurity is one of the state’s strategic priorities.
It was noted that within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between XRIDTX and AzTU on November 5, 2022, regular competitions are held for AzTU students, with winners receiving awards. Additionally, students studying information security are provided opportunities to participate in events and practical training programs. These activities play an important role in transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skills and strengthening human resource potential in the field of cybersecurity in the country.
Following the ceremony, representatives of XRIDTX visited AzTU’s modern educational infrastructure, including laboratories established with the support of the Service, updated telecommunications and communication classrooms, and innovative learning environments equipped with advanced teaching technologies.
