A memorial event dedicated to Elshad Aliyev, a martyr student of AzTU, was held
A memorial event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Elshad Aliyev, a martyr student of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was held.
The event was attended by Elshad Aliyev’s family members, classmates, families of martyrs, war veterans, members of the National Assembly, representatives of the Nizami District Executive Authority, AzTU’s faculty and students.
First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Subhan Namazov, greeted the participants. The Vice-Rector stated that the cherished memory of martyr students and graduates at AzTU is always honored, and their heroism is passed on to the younger generation. He also emphasized the importance of such memorial events in fostering patriotism among the youth.
Members of Parliament Aydin Mirzazade and Vugar Iskandarov, Deputy Head of Nizami Executive Authority Konul Hasanova, Head of AzTU’s Department of Humanities Habib Mirzayev, fathers of martyrs, classmates, relatives, and loved ones of Elshad Aliyev commemorated the martyr’s memory. They expressed gratitude to Flora Aliyeva, the martyr’s mother, for raising such a heroic son.
After the speeches, the event continued with a cultural program.
It should be noted that Elshad Aliyev, a student of AzTU who reached martyrdom in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, was born in Baku on February 27, 1975. He was admitted to AzTU in 1991. In 1993, he interrupted his higher education to participate in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and was martyred in the battles for the village of Shelli in Aghdam in 1993.
