Meeting Held Between AzTU and “EPC Engineering & Technologies” Company
The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) held a meeting with Germany’s “EPC Engineering & Technologies” company to discuss collaboration opportunities in filament technology. During the meeting, both parties engaged in extensive discussions on innovation, production capabilities, and potential partnership directions. Technological presentations and information exchange were also discussed. Representatives of “EPC” provided detailed information about “spinning” technology. Subsequently, research and educational opportunities regarding the next steps of the collaboration were discussed. The application of “wet-spinning” at the laboratory level was highlighted as offering broad learning and research opportunities for students and researchers. The discussion also covered the development and small-scale production of various types of filaments such as “PAN,” “Lyocell,” and “Carbacell.” RELATED GOALS
Online Trainings on Research Skills Development Held Within the DIRNA Project
Within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 project titled “Developing Research Potential through Institutional Repository Network in Azerbaijan” (DIRNA), in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner, a series of online training sessions were organized. The trainings were conducted by Gültekin Gürdal, Director of the Library and Documentation Department of the project’s partner university, Izmir Institute of Technology (İYTE). A “Pedagogical Mastery” week was held at the Department of Cybersecurity
A “Pedagogical Mastery” week was held at the Department of Cybersecurity to enhance the teaching knowledge and skills of the faculty members. The purpose of the event was to improve the quality of education by encouraging department instructors to engage in discussions and training sessions with their colleagues on various aspects of pedagogical mastery. During the training sessions, topics such as the application of innovative teaching methods, integration of digital technologies into the teaching process, new practical training methodologies and pedagogical technologies, assessment and monitoring of learning outcomes, conflict resolution in pedagogy, psychological foundations of teaching, teacher models, mastery in managing the emotional state of teachers, and ways to enhance the pedagogical professionalism of young educators were discussed using effective methods, real pedagogical scenarios, and best practices. Founding Meeting of AzTU Alumni Association Held
The founding meeting of the Alumni Association was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), organized by the university’s Career and Employment Center. The event was attended by AzTU’s honorary alumni, including Members of Parliament Zahid Oruj and Anar Mammadov, veteran alumnus and advisor-professor Rahim Shukyurov, as well as over 300 AzTU graduates currently working in various institutions, organizations, and enterprises. Members of the university’s academic staff who are also graduates were present as well. The event began with a moment of silence to honor the memory of AzTU’s fallen alumni who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. AzTU employees participated in the summer school in Ganja within the DIRNA project
A summer school was organized at Ganja State University as part of the “Development of Research Potential through the Network of Institutional Repositories (Digital Archives) in Azerbaijan” (DIRNA) project, implemented under the Erasmus+KA2 program, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The five-day training session included participation from Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of the AzTU Library and Information Center (LIC); Inam Hasanov, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department; Iltifat Ibrahimov, Senior Consultant for Library Process Automation and Digitization; and Yegana Jafarova, Senior Expert in Metadata. Throughout the summer school, AzTU staff participated in a training program presented by partners from Izmir Technical University (Turkey), Jyväskylä University (Finland), and the University of L’Aquila (Italy). The topics covered included Open Access and Open Science principles, legal regulations, Creative Commons licenses, applications of the European Open Science Cloud, and open publishing ethics. Professor from the University of Nottingham Held a Seminar at AzTU
Professor Marco Rivera from the University of Nottingham, UK, conducted a seminar for the staff of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) on renewable energy sources in the world and in Azerbaijan, as well as opportunities for research collaboration between the University of Nottingham and AzTU. Welcoming the guest, AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbayli, highly appreciated the initiative to hold a seminar on this topic. He emphasized the importance of learning from the experiences of leading global universities on such issues and highlighted the benefits of collaboration with them. The first information session on “Scopus AI” has been held
Organized by the Science and Higher Education State Agency, an info session on the topic of “Scopus AI – Developing Research Skills Using an Artificial Intelligence Tool” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Teachers, students, researchers, and graduates from various scientific and higher education institutions attended the event. During the session, by using the AI-powered scientific information search system, “Scopus AI” participants were informed about identifying research trends, preparing summaries, and finding relevant topics and experts. It should be noted that, since this year, the system developed by Elsevier has been made available to more than 100 scientific and higher education institutions in the country, thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Education.
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSASH)
Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has undertaken several initiatives in recent years to align with the demands of the modern labor market and new challenges through adopting and transferring advanced practices to our country. One such initiative has been the implementation of high-level engineering training programs at our university, established in collaboration with the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSASH) of the Republic of Türkiye since 2022. As a part of this collaboration, the “AzTU-Turkish Aerospace, MGP 2023.1” training program commenced on September 18, 2023, and the final stage (Phase IV) is currently ongoing. The 6th Eurasian Conference, RISK 2024, titled “Innovations in Minimizing Natural and Technological Risks of Climate Change: Methodology and Practice,” is being held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) within the framework of COP29. Nobel Peace Prize laureates Professor Sviatoslav Timashev and Professor Elena Nikitina, along with nearly 100 scientists from various countries worldwide, are participating in the conference.
