The delegation of the 2nd meeting of the Skills Development Working Group, established under the regional technical assistance project “Strengthening the Development of Green Skills” within the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program of the Asian Development Bank, held in Baku, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as guests. The event is jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Ministries of Science and Education. An event titled “Artificial Intelligence in Universities: Change is at Our Doorstep” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The event was attended by AzTU’s professors, education specialists, and students. The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Buket Akkoyunlu, Vice-Rector of Çankaya University in Turkey and a renowned scholar, shared valuable insights on the application of artificial intelligence technologies in higher education institutions, the interaction of teachers with these technologies and their new roles, the restructuring of teaching strategies, and ethical issues. At the end of the event, discussions were held about the integration of artificial intelligence into the teaching process, the challenges that may arise in education, and new opportunities.
Students of AzTU undergo industrial training at Baku Shipbuilding Plant
The industrial training of 4th-year students specializing in Industrial Engineering at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is successfully ongoing at the Baku Shipbuilding Plant. To ensure quality training and familiarize students with modern production processes, the training has been effectively organized based on a program developed jointly by AzTU’s Department of Machine Design and Industrial Technologies and the Training Center at Baku Shipbuilding Plant. During the training program, students who are open to learning, proactive, innovative, enthusiastic, and successfully complete the industrial practice will be selected and awarded certificates. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to work at the plant.
Students of AzTU Presented the “Tələbə360” Project
Students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) — members of the “InTech” team, Mirsahib Ağazadə, Ömər, and Sübhan Ələsgərov — presented the “Tələbə360” project at the “Özbahçeci Invest Forum.” The students provided detailed information to the participants about the purpose and functionality of the “Tələbə360” project. Head of Department of AzTU on a Business Trip to Germany
Professor Nizami Yusubov, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Technology at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), paid a business visit to Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus – Senftenberg (BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg) in Germany. Azerbaijan Technical University and Dithari Technologies Sign Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of DISC Innovation and Sustainability Lab
An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Dithari Technologies to establish the DISC Innovation and Sustainability Lab. The signing ceremony took place at AzTU’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Corner, and this cooperation is considered an important step towards the development of circular IT practices and the promotion of sustainability in technology. The establishment of the new lab aims to contribute to strengthening innovation and environmental responsibility in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 12 — the principle of responsible consumption and production. International Success of the “MECHACK 9030” Team Supported by AzTU
With the support of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the “MECHACK 9030” team achieved significant success in 2023 at the New York City Regional competition, winning the “Rookie All-Star Award” and qualifying for the World Championship. At the Houston World Championship, the team was awarded the “Rookie Inspiration Award – Newton Division.” Additionally, by receiving a “Wild Card” at the New York Regional, the MECHACK team once again demonstrated its engineering skills and team spirit at an international level. On March 14, 2025, the “MECHACK 9030” team also participated in competitions held in Orlando and Miami, Florida, USA. Competing among 53 teams, the team placed 117th, further enriching its international experience. A meeting was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with representatives of the Turkish company “Argemsan”, which is engaged in the production of laboratory equipment. Opportunities for technical cooperation between the parties, the provision of laboratories in various specialties, as well as the implementation of joint projects was discussed in the meeting. In the end, the parties agreed to continue working meetings to determine future directions of cooperation.

An event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).The event, organized by AzTU’s Turkish students, was attended by the university’s faculty and students.Habib Mirzayev, head of the Department of Humanities, and Afag Zeynalova and Arzu Khalilzadeh, associate professors of the department, spoke about the historical significance of the Battle of Çanakkale and the national spirit created by this victory.Poems on the theme of heroism were recited at the event, and musical numbers reflecting the spirit of patriotism were presented.

An event called “Novruz Song” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) jointly organized by the Trade Union Committee (TUC), the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), and the Student Youth Organization. Firstly, stands of faculties and student organizations were displayed on the occasion of the Novruz holiday. Expressing his congratulations on the occasion of Novruz, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the history of this beloved national holiday and its symbol of national unity and solidarity. He emphasized that organizing such national holidays and celebrations also instills in the younger generation a commitment to national traditions. The rector also spoke about the successes of AzTU in recent years and the projects implemented at the university to train modern engineering personnel. Later, letters of appreciation were presented to students who demonstrated activity in the university’s public life. After the official part, the event continued with a concert program.
