The next “Bootcamp” dedicated to the project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Precision Agriculture” was held in Shamakhi, jointly organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Shamakhi District Executive Authority. The Bootcamp, organized within the framework of the Wine and Grape Festival, was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU): Ali Mustafasoylu, student of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology; Selcan Karimli, student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications; and Omar Alasgarov, trainer-constructor at the Research and Design Laboratory of the “SmartTech” Innovation Center. Meeting with First-Year Students of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology
A meeting was held with the first-year students admitted to the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology for the 2025/2026 academic year. Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Yadullah Babayev, congratulated the students on their achievement and emphasized that the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology is the only one in the region preparing highly qualified specialists for the defense industry. He underlined that the importance of the defense industry continues to grow in light of new global challenges, and encouraged students to be active in their studies, to remain motivated for lifelong learning, and to act responsibly in their academic journey. Cooperation Agreement Signed Between AzTU and Cyprus Bahçeşehir University
A delegation led by Mehmet Toycan, Rector of Cyprus Bahçeşehir University (KBU) of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, visited the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) during their trip to Azerbaijan. The guests held a meeting with Rector Vilayat Valiyev and representatives of AzTU. Welcoming the delegation, Rector Vilayat Valiyev expressed his pleasure at hosting them at AzTU. He provided detailed information about the university’s ongoing initiatives, academic programs, implemented projects, international collaborations, as well as AzTU’s future goals in science and research. AzTU Begins Collaboration with Israel’s Holon Institute of Technology
A delegation from Israel’s Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), led by President Eduard Yakubov, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) during their official trip to Azerbaijan. The delegation met with Rector Vilayət Vəliyev and university representatives. Rector Vilayət Vəliyev welcomed the guests and expressed his pleasure at hosting them at AzTU. He briefed the delegation on the university’s educational programs, ongoing projects, existing collaborations with Israeli higher education institutions, and future goals in research and scientific development. President Eduard Yakubov provided detailed information about HIT, highlighting that it is one of Israel’s pioneering universities in engineering education. He also expressed interest in expanding academic and research collaboration between Israeli and Azerbaijani universities. During the meeting, AzTU and HIT representatives discussed opportunities for: Student and faculty exchanges, Joint research projects, Dual degree programs. The visit concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two universities.
Today, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) held a Knowledge Day event.
The celebration began in the university foyer with a floral tribute at the bust of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was honored with a one-minute silence, followed by the performance of the National Anthem. Rector Vilayət Vəliyev congratulated the newly admitted students and wished them success in their educational journey and future endeavors. He announced that this year, 1,887 students were admitted at the bachelor’s level and 1,604 at the master’s level. The Rector also shared information about AzTU’s learning environment, student support, social opportunities, and career prospects. A recognition ceremony was held for 16 students who scored above 600 points in the entrance exams. AzTU Team Leads the Shift from Wi-Fi to Li-Fi Innovation
In a remarkable display of innovation and technical expertise, a team of young researchers from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has developed a cutting-edge Li-Fi system. This wireless communication technology uses light waves instead of radio frequencies to transmit data. The project was carried out under the leadership of Professor Mehman Hasanov, head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications. Guided by his expertise and mentorship, students from the department have demonstrated a new milestone in the university’s commitment to advancing scientific research and technological innovation. Unlike traditional Wi-Fi, which relies on crowded radio frequency spectrums, Li-Fi uses visible light from LEDs to deliver ultra-fast data transmission. This makes it more secure, as light signals cannot penetrate walls, and more energy-efficient, as it leverages existing lighting infrastructure.
Minister of Youth and Sports Met with the AzTU Student Youth Organization (TGT) Chair
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov held a meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations’ Union (ATGTI) and Student Youth Organizations (TGTs). The purpose of the meeting was to support student initiatives, ensure their participation in decision-making processes, and create opportunities for them to contribute to the state youth policy. The meeting, held in Sumgayit city — designated as the “Youth Capital 2025”, was attended by Ruslan Ganbarov, the chair of the Student Youth Organization at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and deputy chair Nigar Hasanova.
