“GreenTech” Startup and Green Technologies” competition was held in Ganja as part of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” announced by the President Ilham Aliyev’s Decree. Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was represented by 4 teams in the competition. The “Efficient use of natural resources and revival of Karabakh” team, captained by Kamran Gurbanov, a first-year student of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics of AzTU, was awarded the second place in the competition. After evaluation by the jury, the winning teams were awarded with certificates and valuable gifts.  

Sergey Khristolyubov, regional director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) International Rating Agency, was a guest of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Welcoming the guest, Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the role of international rating systems in the recognition of higher education institutions on a global scale. The rector emphasized that AzTU attaches importance to international rating systems. During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current and future cooperation issues of AzTU with QS, including the possibilities of developing relevant indicators related to QS rating.  

A field trip to the meat and dairy plant of the SAB company was organized by the “Industrial Engineering Hub” club operating under the Student Trade Union Committee (THIK) of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Teachers of the Department of Machine Design and Industrial Technologies and 2nd year students studying food engineering took part in the excursion.  

Within the framework of the “Development of Research Potential in Azerbaijan through the Network of Institutional Repositories (Digital Archives)” (DIRNA) project implemented under the “Erasmus+ KA2” program of which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner, the next trainings were organized at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. AzTU was represented at the trainings by Khayala Hajiyeva, director of the Library Information Center (KIM), and Iltifat Ibrahimov, senior consultant on library systems and digitization processes.  

Known for its affordable prices and offers suitable for everyone, “Nar” continues its long-term social projects in the direction of education. “Nar” continues mobile communication training for students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in order to develop the field of mobile communications of Azerbaijan based on local professionals. Within the framework of nearly 10-year cooperation between “Nar” and AzTU, students of the university studying technical specialties participate in communication trainings organized by the “Nar” technical staff, conduct face-to-face classes in the “Nar” laboratory and join the “Nar” internship program. It should be noted that the technical staff of “Nar” is made up of local professionals.  

A seminar on anti-drug addiction was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Gamar Isayeva, director of the Social Development Center of AzTU, said that the danger of drug addiction is a factor that has a great impact on the moral and moral values of human society, has a negative impact on socio-economic development, creates a serious threat to people’s lives and health, and causes an increase in crime. Seminars on anti-drug addiction are regularly organized at the university in order to educate young people about this problem, which seriously worries the world. An educational event dedicated to the fight against human trafficking was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Police colonel Ibrahim Ahmadov, an employee of the Main Department of Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and students attended in the event. First, the students were informed about the work done in the framework of anti-trafficking measures in our country, and the main methods of identifying victims of human trafficking. Later, the video clip was shown. It was reported that victims of the crime of human trafficking, probable victims and potential victims of human trafficking can apply to 152 “Hotlines” operating in the General Directorate for Combating Human Trafficking. In the end, the students’ questions were answered.  

Anar Aliyev, the general director of the famous German SAP company specializing in the field of information systems, for Azerbaijan, held a seminar at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Nuran Süleymanova, the teacher of the department of international trade, logistics and marketing, coordinator of SAP of AzTU, also participated in the seminar. In the seminar organized for the students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, the current requirements for training as a SAP specialist, the opportunities for experience in local and global SAP markets were discussed. Also, Yuri Kuprianov, the global manager of SAP University Alliances, attended the meeting in online format and answered the students’ questions. It should be noted that AzTU is a member of the Global SAP Alliance of Universities since 2024 and carries out regular events together with the company.  

A reporting conference was held within the framework of the “Establishment of Rectors’ Conference in Azerbaijan” (ECAR) project. The conference was attended by over 100 representatives from 28 local higher education institutions, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the State Employment Agency, the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues, as well as foreign partners of the project, including Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Belgium. In the event AzTU was represented by Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) , employees of the International Relations Office Metanet Pashayeva, Nubar Farhadzadeh, and Ulviyya Rasulova, Head Specialist of the Career and Employment Center. The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has once again made a breakthrough. With the initiative of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the company “Nokia” has opened a laboratory in AzTU. The new xPON laboratory, which started its activities at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies of AzTU, is fully equipped by “Nokia.” It is worth noting that the xPON technology allows for transmission for 5G stations at lower financial costs.
