A meeting was held with first-year students of the Faculty of Transportation and Logistics at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The Dean of the Faculty of Transportation and Logistics, Allahverdi Sharifov, congratulated the students on their admission to AzTU and wished them success in their studies. The dean also provided first-year students with information about the university, the faculty’s history, and its educational programs. Following this, Razim Bayramov, Head of the Department of Transport Logistics and Traffic Safety, and Heybatulla Ahmadov, Consulting Professor of the Department of Transport Technology and Management, shared detailed information on the main priorities of their departments in staff training, the importance of university-industry collaboration, and contemporary labor market demands in the field of transportation and logistics. As part of the collaboration between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and “Focus Optika,” free eye examinations were conducted for staff and students on September 24–26. More than 160 participants benefited from the check-ups, carried out by medical specialists from “Focus Optika.” During the examinations, participants received valuable recommendations on eye health, and their individual questions were addressed. In addition, special discounts on eyeglasses and related products were offered to AzTU staff and students who underwent the examinations.      

The Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Tashkent State Transport University, Said Shaumarov, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Welcoming the guest, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev expressed satisfaction with the expanding cooperation between the two universities in recent years. He emphasized the importance of increasing joint research initiatives and highlighted the necessity of establishing a joint research center. Vice-Rector Said Shaumarov noted his university’s satisfaction with ongoing joint research in the fields of transport technologies, urban mobility, and logistics with AzTU, and expressed interest in further expanding these collaborations in the future. During the meeting, the sides also discussed student and faculty exchanges, improving universities’ positions in international rankings, the implementation of dual-degree programs, and other areas of mutual interest.      

On September 27 – Memorial Day, the communities of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the Türkiye-Azerbaijan University (TAU) visited Victory Park. With deep respect, they honored the memory of the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Flower tributes were laid at the Victory Monument in recognition of their legacy. This commemoration reflects the universities’ commitment to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering a culture of remembrance, respect, and unity. It also contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, as such initiatives cultivate civic responsibility, historical awareness, and values of peace and solidarity among students and academic staff.    

As part of a series of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MDI), a meeting was held on September 26 with the leadership of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the faculty and students of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology to mark the start of the new academic year. The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) hosted an event dedicated to September 27 – Commemoration Day. The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of the sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, followed by the performance of the National Anthem. In his opening remarks, AzTU Rector, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, noted that Commemoration Day is both a solemn and honorable date, marking the beginning of Azerbaijan’s historic victory. He emphasized that the 44-day Patriotic War opened a new chapter in the country’s military history. Launched under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the war began on September 27, 2020, with the rallying call “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” giving strength to the national army and ultimately ending three decades of occupation. Azerbaijan International Investment Forum held in Baku. Participants included Selcan Karimli from the Faculty of Information Technology and Telecommunications, and Anabacı Amiraslanova and Omar Mammadzade from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy. The aim of the forum was to promote global cooperation, deepen regional economic integration, showcase the country’s investment opportunities, and present Azerbaijan’s ongoing economic reforms to an international audience. At the “Agro Technology” section of the forum, AzTU students showcased their startup projects, which addressed challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability. upported by the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and organized by Times Higher Education (THE), the two-day “THE Eurasian Universities Summit” concluded successfully. On the second day of the summit, the Rector of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Professor Vilayat Valiyev, spoke at the panel session titled “Charting the Future of Eurasian Collaboration.” In his address, Professor Valiyev shared insights and proposals regarding the future of inter-university cooperation across the Eurasian region. The Rector emphasized the importance of: Joint research projects between universities,  Strengthening international academic collaboration, and  Supporting innovation-driven initiatives that contribute to sustainable development.  The summit discussions mainly focused on improving the quality of higher education in Eurasia, as well as creating new opportunities for universities to become more actively integrated into the global networks of science, research, and innovation.      

At the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), an info session was organized for the Innovative Solutions Marathon within the framework of the SiD (Startup, Innovation, and Support) Project of OBA LLC. Samir Qulamzade, Project Manager of SiD at OBA LLC and an AzTU alumnus, delivered a presentation on the SiD initiative. He highlighted that the project is the first comprehensive innovation program in the retail sector, designed to foster both internal and external innovative ideas. The project, launched under the slogan “Your Idea is Supported”, aims to promote creative initiatives and encourage the development of innovative solutions that optimize OBA’s operational processes. During the session, emphasis was placed on one of the project’s key directions — the Innovative Solutions Marathon. Mr. Qulamzade noted that both the academic and administrative staff, as well as students of AzTU, can participate in the marathon individually or in teams to propose creative and forward-looking solutions.…

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Huseyngulu Guliyev, Vice-Dean Associate Professor Lala Piriyeva, and other faculty staff. Professor Guliyev congratulated the students on their admission to AzTU and wished them success in their studies. He provided detailed information about the university and the faculty, including its main priorities in training qualified specialists, its academic profile, university-industry cooperation, departments, dual degree programs, and other essential aspects. He also addressed questions raised by the students. Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs Lala Piriyeva then introduced the students to the key principles of the credit-based education system. At the end of the meeting, Cavidan Zeynalli, who was admitted to the dual degree program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a score of 619.5 points in the 2025/2026 academic year admissions, was presented with a special gift.
