The next online meeting of the “GreenTech Horizons” project was held within the framework of the “Erasmus+ KA2” program, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The project aims to promote dual green and digital transitions through education and innovation in Eastern, Central Asia, and neighboring Asian countries. During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the status of project task implementation, a report on the results achieved was presented, and discussions were held. Additionally, the challenges encountered during the project execution and the planned activities for the upcoming months were discussed. The meeting was attended by the project manager, Hikmat Aliyev, Head of AzTU’s Department of Electrical Engineering, and representatives from the International Project Management sector.

A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI), which operates under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, with Associate Professor Gültekin Coşkun, the head of the National Ground Safety Institute (UZGE) operating in the technopark of Sivas Cumhuriyet University in Türkiye. A cooperation memorandum has been signed between AzTU, TAU, and UZGE
A cooperation memorandum has been signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Türkiye-Azerbaijan University (TAU), and Türkiye’s National Ground Safety Institute (UZGE). Within the framework of this collaboration, joint activities are planned in the fields of scientific research, technology transfer, metrology, standardization, and the establishment of testing laboratories. According to the memorandum, the institutions will cooperate in implementing joint scientific projects, publishing articles in international scientific journals, and applying innovative solutions in industry. Additionally, UZGE specialists will conduct training sessions for AzTU and TAU students, providing opportunities for practical experience in laboratories. To support startup development and strengthen the innovation ecosystem, the institutions will also collaborate through Technology Transfer Offices.

AzTU and TAU Announce Collaboration with Türkiye’s UZGE – National Ground Safety Institute
Associate Professor Gültekin Coşkun, the head of Turkiye’s UZGE – National Ground Safety Institute, operating at the Technopark of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). As part of the visit, he met with AzTU’s rector, Vilayat Valiyev. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Turkiye-Azerbaijan University (TAU) and AzTU. During the meeting, Gültekin Coşkun provided information about the institute’s activities, stating that UZGE offers high-quality testing and certification services in the fields of metrology and flooring safety. In addition, the institute conducts research on the friction coefficients of various flooring materials and the safety of helicopter landing surfaces. He emphasized that collaboration with AzTU and TAU in these areas is a priority for the institute. Rector Vilayat Valiyev emphasized the importance of cooperation between AzTU, TAU, and the institute, stating that it would be appropriate to implement a pilot project in the initial phase.
AzTU SYO Wins ‘Student Youth Organization of the Year’ Award
On February 2, the “GenZ FEST” festival was held at the Bazaar Square in White City in celebration of Azerbaijan Youth Day. The festival, organized by the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations’ Union (ATGTI) with the support of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, brought together more than 5,000 students. The event was attended by the chairman of the Student Youth Organization (TGT) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Ruslan Ganbarov, along with other members of the organization. As part of the festival, the names of the Student Youth Organizations that received the title of “Student Youth Organization of the Year” were announced. It was noted that due to its contributions to the country’s socio-public life and its active engagement throughout the year, the AzTU Student Youth Organization was awarded the title of “Student Youth Organization of the Year.
AzTU employees participated in the summer school in Ganja within the DIRNA project
A summer school was organized at Ganja State University as part of the “Development of Research Potential through the Network of Institutional Repositories (Digital Archives) in Azerbaijan” (DIRNA) project, implemented under the Erasmus+KA2 program, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The five-day training session included participation from Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of the AzTU Library and Information Center (LIC); Inam Hasanov, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department; Iltifat Ibrahimov, Senior Consultant for Library Process Automation and Digitization; and Yegana Jafarova, Senior Expert in Metadata. Throughout the summer school, AzTU staff participated in a training program presented by partners from Izmir Technical University (Turkey), Jyväskylä University (Finland), and the University of L’Aquila (Italy). The topics covered included Open Access and Open Science principles, legal regulations, Creative Commons licenses, applications of the European Open Science Cloud, and open publishing ethics. The first information session on “Scopus AI” has been held
Organized by the Science and Higher Education State Agency, an info session on the topic of “Scopus AI – Developing Research Skills Using an Artificial Intelligence Tool” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Teachers, students, researchers, and graduates from various scientific and higher education institutions attended the event. During the session, by using the AI-powered scientific information search system, “Scopus AI” participants were informed about identifying research trends, preparing summaries, and finding relevant topics and experts. It should be noted that, since this year, the system developed by Elsevier has been made available to more than 100 scientific and higher education institutions in the country, thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Education.
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSASH)
Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has undertaken several initiatives in recent years to align with the demands of the modern labor market and new challenges through adopting and transferring advanced practices to our country. One such initiative has been the implementation of high-level engineering training programs at our university, established in collaboration with the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSASH) of the Republic of Türkiye since 2022. As a part of this collaboration, the “AzTU-Turkish Aerospace, MGP 2023.1” training program commenced on September 18, 2023, and the final stage (Phase IV) is currently ongoing. The 6th Eurasian Conference, RISK 2024, titled “Innovations in Minimizing Natural and Technological Risks of Climate Change: Methodology and Practice,” is being held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) within the framework of COP29. Nobel Peace Prize laureates Professor Sviatoslav Timashev and Professor Elena Nikitina, along with nearly 100 scientists from various countries worldwide, are participating in the conference. The conference began with the playing of Azerbaijan’s national anthem.
