Preparation of modern and high-quality engineer professionals for defence industry is a priority
The delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense Industry, Hidayat Azimov, visited the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Rector, Vilayat Valiyev, gave detailed information about the work being done at AzTU regarding the organization of modern teaching and education, aimed at training highly qualified engineers in line with the demands of the labor market. An information session on the specialty “Quality and risk management in healthcare” was held
A new information session was held as part of a project in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The session took place within the framework of the “Erasmus+KA2” project titled “Strategic Quality Management and Risk Management in Healthcare in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan through Open and Distance Education Formats for Professional Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs” (LMQS). The session provided healthcare professionals with detailed information about the newly introduced master’s program under the project, including its significance, learning outcomes, and key competencies. It also highlighted the program’s benefits and work opportunities. Participants learned about the main subject areas of the program, such as healthcare management principles and strategies, economics, politics, law, and ethics. The session was led by Associate Professor Parvin Soltanli from the Department of Economics and Statistics and Associate Professor Murshud Mehdiyev from the Department of International Trade, Logistics, and Marketing.
AzTU delegation visited Indonesia
A delegation from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) recently embarked on a business trip to leading higher education institutions in Indonesia. The delegation was headed by Fariz Mammadov, Vice Rector for International Relations, and Baxtiyar Badalov, Director of the Research and Development Department. The primary goal of the visit was to establish collaborations between AzTU and Indonesia’s top universities, focusing on joint research, educational initiatives, and enhancing international rankings. During the trip, the delegation held meetings with representatives from Indonesia University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Bina Nusantara University, 17 August 1945 Jakarta University, and Atma Jaya Indonesia Catholic University. The “Times Higher Education” Interdisciplinary Science ranking, published for the first time on November 21, has been announced. Azerbaijan Technical University is included in the TOP 500 of the “Times Higher Education” ranking. It is important to mention that the “Times Higher Education” Interdisciplinary Science ranking is the first ranking table that measures the achievements of universities in interdisciplinary science.”

A final report meeting of the LMQS project was held in Kazakhstan
A final report meeting was held in Kazakhstan as part of the “ERASMUS+KA2” program project, titled “Strategic Quality Management and Risk Management in Healthcare in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan: Open and Distance Education for Professional Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs” (LMQS), in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The meetings, hosted by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Rus-Kazakh Medical University, and Kazakh National Medical University, took place in Almaty. During the sessions, the progress of the project and the results achieved were presented. The representative of the University of West Attica, the coordinating institution of the LMQS project, provided an overview of the documentation requirements for project outcomes and financial reporting to the partner universities. AzTU was represented by Associate Professor Sevinj Rzayeva from the Department of Economics and Statistics, Senior Specialist Nabat Cabbarova, and Leading Specialist Nubar Farhadzade from the International Relations Department.
Representatives of the SAP company provided training to AzTU students
Representatives of the global SAP company, Yuri Kupriianov and Wissam Kadi, conducted training sessions for AzTU students. The sessions were designed for students from the Faculties of Economics and Management, and Information and Communication Technologies. The SAP representatives, specializing in enterprise management, engaged students in managing businesses and making rational decisions using the “Business Builders Game” method in group settings. Following this, a panel discussion titled “Developing the Necessary Skills to Prepare Youth for an Agile and Dynamic World” was organized for AzTU’s academic staff. Faculty members from the Department of Economics and Statistics took part in the discussion. Additionally, a group of AzTU faculty and students visited SAP’s Green Zone pavilion during COP29, where they discussed the company’s various products and solutions.
AzTU was represented at the meeting of the Federation of International Library Associations and Institutes
A meeting was held with representatives from several leading libraries in Azerbaijan and an IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) representative, organized by the Library of ADA University. AzTU was represented at the meeting by Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of the Library and Information Center. IFLA representative Claire McGuire delivered a presentation on “Academic Libraries and Climate-related Activities: The Role of Libraries in Climate Change Research.” The discussion focused on the involvement of academic libraries in climate change research, the information services they provide to researchers in this field, and future actions to further support this area.
AzTU is on the list of the best universities in the world
In the context of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, the results of the “QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025”, which is one of the most influential ranking tables in the world, have been announced. According to the results, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) (1501+) has been included in the list of the world’s best universities for the first time. The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) jointly conducted the event, and the “World University Ranking: Sustainability ranking 2025” certificate was presented to AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev.
Representatives of Pakistan University visited AzTU
A delegation from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) of Pakistan, participating in the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests met with AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and other university representatives. Rector Valiyev shared information about the ongoing initiatives at AzTU and highlighted the significance of the discussions held during COP29. He also expressed AzTU’s interest in expanding its collaboration with NUST in areas such as “Quacquarelli Symonds” (QS), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other global and regional university rankings.
