AzTU Team Leads the Shift from Wi-Fi to Li-Fi Innovation

In a remarkable display of innovation and technical expertise, a team of young researchers from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has developed a cutting-edge Li-Fi system. This wireless communication technology uses light waves instead of radio frequencies to transmit data.

The project was carried out under the leadership of Professor Mehman Hasanov, head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications. Guided by his expertise and mentorship, students from the department have demonstrated a new milestone in the university’s commitment to advancing scientific research and technological innovation.

Unlike traditional Wi-Fi, which relies on crowded radio frequency spectrums, Li-Fi uses visible light from LEDs to deliver ultra-fast data transmission. This makes it more secure, as light signals cannot penetrate walls, and more energy-efficient, as it leverages existing lighting infrastructure.
