A delegation from the Ministry of Defense Industry (MSN) visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation opportunities in conducting scientific research with faculty members, master’s, and doctoral students working in chemistry and chemical engineering, as well as organizing joint training programs and “bootcamps” in this field. Rector Vilayət Vəliyev expressed satisfaction with the existing productive collaboration between the Ministry of Defense Industry and AzTU. He emphasized that expanding ties with the Ministry, particularly strengthening the cooperation of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology with MSN enterprises, is of special importance for the training of highly qualified engineering personnel. A meeting was held to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation between the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and SOCAR. As part of Germany’s “German Academic Exchange Service” (DAAD) exchange program, Pascal Heyman, founder of the company “Berlin Speaking” and lecturer at the University of Potsdam, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During his visit, Pascal Heyman conducted a training session titled “Pitch Training,” dedicated to the development of young teachers’ startup projects and the enhancement of their presentation skills. The training, organized by AzTU’s “SmartTech” Innovators Center, aimed to help participants present their innovative ideas, prepare effective pitches for products and projects, and increase their knowledge of Germany’s startup ecosystem. A ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the People’s Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The event was jointly organized by AzTU’s Department of Humanities and the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC). The host of the event, poet Jabrayil Gambar, highlighted the importance of the decree issued by President Ilham Aliyev on February 21, 2025, regarding the celebration of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s 100th anniversary. A training session titled “She’s Not Just a Girl, She’s an Engineer” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Organized by AzTU’s Communications Department, the session was attended by female students of the university. The purpose of the training was to increase girls’ interest in engineering and promote gender equality. The trainer, Anabacı Əmiraslanova, a second-year student at AzTU’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy and the second-place winner at the World Robot Olympiad, provided participants with valuable information on the role of women in engineering, success stories of women engineers in Azerbaijan and worldwide, statistics on women in STEM, startup opportunities for women, leadership skill development, and other related topics. Following the presentation, participants were divided into teams to discuss the topic in depth.    

On October 20, a press conference and award ceremony for the winners of the Statistics Olympiad were held at the State Statistics Committee in connection with World Statistics Day. It was noted that a total of 3,355 school students and 198 university students participated in the Olympiad. Səma Qeybalıyeva, a third-year student of the Faculty of Industrial Economics and Management at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), achieved remarkable results in the competition. She was recognized for her analytical thinking and statistical knowledge.    

The first forum of the Student Scientific Society (SSC) of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was held. Dean Leyla Məmmədova highlighted the significance of establishing the SSC and outlined its future prospects to the students. Following this, Shərəfxanım Əliyeva, Chair of AzTU’s Student Scientific Society, spoke about the benefits of becoming a member of the SSC. Ülviyyə Kərimova, Vice Dean for Social Affairs, Public Relations, and Infrastructure of the faculty, provided information on the SSC’s structure, upcoming goals, and the clubs operating under the SSC. She encouraged students to actively participate under the motto: “Let’s Create the Technology of the Future Together!” Yadigar İmamverdiyev, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity, addressed the forum, wishing SSC members success in their endeavors. The 5th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Exhibition on the Restoration, Reconstruction, and Development of Karabakh (Rebuild Karabakh) was held at the Baku Expo Center. The main goal of the event was to support the restoration of the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, renew social and economic infrastructure in the area, and promote the development of agriculture and other priority sectors. At the exhibition, the stand presented by the Agrarian Innovation Center showcased startups by students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), including Nihad Aliyev from the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications, and Anar Məmmədov and Ömər Məmmədzadə from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy. Notably, the “Rebuild Karabakh” exhibition, held from October 14–16, serves as an important platform for involving both public and private sector stakeholders, as well as international partners, in the restoration process of Karabakh.      

A Research Cluster on Defense Technologies and Cybersecurity has been established at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the aim of unifying scientific research potential in defense and cybersecurity under a single strategic direction. The cluster seeks to eliminate redundancy in research, integrate modern trends and innovations into a cohesive system, and strengthen collaboration between the government, industry, and university sectors. The newly established cluster will operate in the following research areas: autonomous systems, unmanned platforms, AI-based control systems, electromagnetic defense technologies, network and information security, AI-based cyberattack detection, protection of SCADA and industrial systems, smart grids, e-mobility, energy security and resilient infrastructure models, as well as Big Data and AI-driven forecasting and risk mitigation for critical systems.
