A closing and award ceremony was held for a series of sports competitions among teams from higher and secondary specialized education institutions, organized jointly by the New Azerbaijan Party Yasamal District Branch, Yasamal District Executive Power, and the Youth and Sports Sector of Yasamal District under the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, in partnership with Chairman of the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association, Farhad Qarashov. The event was dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was represented at the ceremony by Head of the Department of Humanities, Habib Mirzayev. According to the competition results, AzTU teams ranked 1st in mini football, volleyball (boys), basketball, and table tennis, and 2nd place in chess.   RELATED GOALS    

With the support of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the “MECHACK 9030” team achieved significant success in 2023 at the New York City Regional competition, winning the “Rookie All-Star Award” and qualifying for the World Championship. At the Houston World Championship, the team was awarded the “Rookie Inspiration Award – Newton Division.” Additionally, by receiving a “Wild Card” at the New York Regional, the MECHACK team once again demonstrated its engineering skills and team spirit at an international level. On March 14, 2025, the “MECHACK 9030” team also participated in competitions held in Orlando and Miami, Florida, USA. Competing among 53 teams, the team placed 117th, further enriching its international experience. Two performances were held at AzTU on the occasion of National Theatre Day Two performances prepared by the Theatre Club of the Student Trade Union (THİK) at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) were showcased to celebrate National Theatre Day. The performances dedicated to the 152nd anniversary of the National Theatre were staged based on the works of playwright Mirza Fatali Akhundov’s “Monsieur Jordan and Dervish Mastali Shah” and Afaq Bashirqizi’s “Kindergarten Teacher.” It should be noted that the performances were the result of three months of rehearsals by students from AzTU and the UNEC Creativity Center. Among the audience were honored artists Rafael Isgandarov, Joshgun Rahimov, and Elkhan Yunis. At the end of the performances, the honored artists congratulated the students and wished them success. At the conclusion, certificates of appreciation were presented to the young people who contributed to the creation of the performances.   RELATED GOALS    

Representatives of an Indian university visited AzTU Representatives of India’s O.P. Jindal Global University visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). AzTU’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, Fariz Mammadov, welcomed the guests and provided information about the university’s activities in education, research, international cooperation, and rankings. Rahul Bhandari, Director of Institutional Development and Strategic Global Engagement Office, and Swapnil S. Bhosale, Head Manager of Rankings Benchmarking and Institutional Transformation Office from O.P. Jindal Global University, expressed their satisfaction with the visit to AzTU and gave a detailed presentation about their university. During the meeting, opportunities for student and faculty exchange, joint scientific research projects, and other cooperation possibilities between the two universities were discussed.     RELATED GOALS    

A meeting was held to expand cooperation between the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI) and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the meeting, information was shared about the institute’s fields of activity, calibration and verification capabilities, as well as improvements made in the laboratories. Proposals were made for AzTU’s undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students to undergo internships at AzMI and to publish their scientific articles in the university’s academic journal. In addition, cooperation prospects were discussed in areas such as the creation of a joint scientific journal, the organization of scientific conferences and training programs. A memorandum was signed between AzTU and 3 universities of Kazakhstan On March 4, a roundtable titled “Expanding Cooperation in Higher Education Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan” was held at ADA University. The event was attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek; Azerbaijan’s Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev; and the rectors of leading universities from both countries. In his opening remarks, ADA University Rector Hafiz Pashayev welcomed the guests and emphasized the professionalism of the Kazakh academic staff working at ADA. He noted that efforts will continue to further expand cooperation in science and education between the two countries. A delegation led by Professor Daniel Valer Breaz, Rector of Romania’s “1 December 1918” University of Alba Iulia, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of their trip to Azerbaijan. The guests met with Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at AzTU, along with other university representatives. During the meeting, Vice-Rector Nurali Yusifbeyli provided information about the university’s ongoing work, implemented projects, and AzTU’s strategic goals. The two sides exchanged views on establishing cooperation between AzTU and “1 December 1918” University. The training session held within the framework of the “ArcGIS for Students” program has concluded. Organized jointly by the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM) and Esri, a global leader in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the program included specialized practical training conducted by Azercosmos GIS experts focusing on real work processes. An event dedicated to World Civil Defence Day was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) under the theme “Civil Defence is the Guarantee of Public Safety.” Speaking at the event, Vice-Rector for Financial and Economic Affairs Rəşad Əliyev stated that the aim of observing this day is to highlight the importance of public protection and safety, as well as to properly acknowledge the work and dedication of civil defence personnel. Head of the Occupational Safety and Technical Security Department, Vidadi Mustafayev, also gave a speech, providing detailed information about the history of World Civil Defence Day and the civil defence measures implemented in Azerbaijan. It is worth noting that this day was declared by the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) and is marked annually as a large-scale humanitarian event. Azerbaijan has been a member of this prestigious international organization since 1993.   RELATED GOALS   

A memorial event dedicated to Elshad Aliyev, a martyr student of AzTU, was held A memorial event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Elshad Aliyev, a martyr student of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was held. The event was attended by Elshad Aliyev’s family members, classmates, families of martyrs, war veterans, members of the National Assembly, representatives of the Nizami District Executive Authority, AzTU’s faculty and students. First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
