Three teams consisting of students from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have won the “TUSAŞ Lift Up 2024 Industry-Oriented Graduation Project – Graduate Projects” competition announced by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) for the 2024-2025 academic year. The teams “KarabağX,” “AeroTech AzTU,” and “VATAN” worked on diploma projects titled “Sustainability of green mechanical processing and cutting tools,” “Optimization of aerodynamic shape using reinforcement learning,” and “Reduction of residual stresses depending on the rolling direction of material in mechanical processing parts and optimization of NC programs,” respectively. These projects are supervised by Professor Nizami Yusubov, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Technology; Professor Yadigar İmamverdiyev, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity; and Associate Professor Sarvan Aziz from the Department of Manufacturing Technology. The projects are supported by industrial consultants Görkem Çoban, Sadik Yetkin, and Alper Yeşilyurt from TUSAŞ. Meinhard Kettler, a representative of Clarivate, led the online training organized by AzTU’s Research and Development Department. The main purpose of the training was to provide information on how to use the features offered by the PQDT Global and Web of Science platforms more effectively, as well as to promote open access. During the session, topics such as free access to PQDT Global and Web of Science, electronic theses and dissertations, and using ProQuest’s free ETD Dashboard tool for data access, along with institutional repository systems for universities, were discussed.   RELATED GOALS

Representatives from various companies within the Communication Technologies Cluster operating under Türkiye’s OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone visited the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The delegation met with AzTU’s rector Vilayət Vəliyev and university representatives.During the meeting, Rector Vəliyev highlighted AzTU’s ongoing collaboration with Turkish universities and companies, emphasizing the importance of applying Türkiye’s experience in university-industry cooperation at AzTU.Durali Çiçek, coordinator of the Communication Technologies Cluster and head of the delegation, along with other company representatives, introduced their organizations and stressed the importance of cooperation between industry and academia in areas such as electronics, automation, telecommunications, programming, and cybersecurity. Çiçek noted that AzTU’s faculty and students could be involved in research and internships within the cluster’s companies.The meeting concluded with discussions on potential areas of collaboration.   RELATED GOALS    

An AzTU employee spoke at the “4th Networking Forum of Young Teachers” Useful discussions were held with the participation of more than 600 teachers at the “4th Networking Forum of Young Teachers” organized by the Azerbaijan Young Teachers Association (AGMA). At the first plenary session of the forum, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Issues of Integrity and Privacy in Education”, the Director of the Institute of Information Technologies and Methodological Support in Education at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Etibar Seyidzade, delivered a speech. He spoke about topics such as artificial intelligence and academic integrity, data privacy, the application of AI in education, and fairness in the educational system, commenting on both the beneficial and harmful aspects of using AI in education.   RELATED GOALS

A delegation led by Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Rector of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University of Türkiye, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests held discussions with AzTU Rector Vilayət Vəliyev and university representatives. During the meeting, the parties discussed enhancing the quality of education and conducting joint research in various fields. A delegation from the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology visited AzTU A delegation led by Khamis Seyranov, Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology (AzMI) under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests met with AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and university representatives to discuss potential areas of cooperation. During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on establishing collaboration in relevant fields. They discussed enabling AzTU students to conduct scientific research using AzMI laboratories, implementing dual supervision at the master’s level, developing new projects in the field of metrology, and expanding institutional cooperation. Additionally, ideas were exchanged regarding internship opportunities for students in relevant specializations at AzMI to enhance their practical knowledge.   RELATED GOALS    

A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, with Associate Professor Gültekin Coşkun, head of the National Ground Safety Institute (UZGE) located in the technopark of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Turkey. The meeting was attended by Vilayət Vəliyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Mehmet Şimşir, Vice-Rector of Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU), as well as representatives of the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND). During the meeting, information was presented about AzMI’s areas of activity, service sectors, measurement and calibration capabilities, existing calibration and verification laboratories, and newly established reference laboratories.
