The final stage of the international competition “Finding Innovative and Creative Solutions (FICS)” was held in the city of Islamabad of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, jointly organized by the National Science and Technology University (METU) and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). A cooperation agreement was signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and TİS (Technological Isolator Systems) company, which has considerable experience in providing seismic stability in the world. The contract was signed by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and TIS Deputy General Director Sadun Tanisher. The parties will cooperate in the direction of educating specialists, providing training and seminars, and implementing joint projects to ensure the seismic stability of large buildings and facilities.  According to the agreement, TIS company specialists will provide training and seminars at AzTU to people specializing in this field in Azerbaijan, as well as provide support in the direction of designing university facilities.  

The “Open Door” day at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in connection with the Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU) ended on August 19. During the “Open Door” days, TAU vice-rector Mehmet Shimshir and representatives of partner universities answered the questions of the applicants. Applicants and their parents had the opportunity to obtain information about TAU’s specialties and educational process. It should be noted that Middle East Technical University, Istanbul Technical University and Haccettepe University from Turkey, and Azerbaijan Technical University from Azerbaijan were involved in the teaching process at TAU. From the new academic year, AzTU students will present their student tickets in digital form via the “mygov” platform. The use of digital student cards is being launched under the joint initiative of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development, the Ministry of Science and Education, and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Thus, AzTU students will submit their student card information in digital form through the “mygov” application. From the next academic year, the use of a digital student card is intended for many occasions, such as entering the university and taking exams at the university. Fariz Amirov, a professor at the Department of Special Technologies and Equipment of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in a mobility program under the Erasmus+ exchange scheme to conduct scientific research at Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany. During his stay in Germany, he carried out scientific research at the relevant research laboratories of the corresponding departments at Brandenburg University of Technology. Additionally, he held discussions with the university’s staff regarding the potential implementation of future joint scientific research projects.  

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is participating in the university fair organized by the State Examination Center. The aim of the fair is to familiarize applicants with the opportunities available at higher education institutions before making their specialty choice and to support them in determining their field of study. Visitors to the fair have the opportunity to interact directly with AzTU representatives, ask questions, and get answers regarding specialties, academic programs, infrastructure, tuition fees, scholarships, and other related matters. Within the framework of the fair, AzTU will present a more detailed overview for applicants at designated halls and times. It should be noted that around 40 public and private higher education institutions operating in the country, as well as various organizations, have set up booths at the fair. The fair will continue until August 2, 2024.  

The Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Vilayat Valiyev, met with Shahmar Hajiyeva, Director of the Information Security Department of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), and other staff members of the agency. The main purpose of the meeting was to identify new areas and forms of collaboration between AzTU and IDDA for the development of the cybersecurity ecosystem. Speaking about the importance of university-industry cooperation, Rector Vilayat Valiyev emphasized that the joint activities of AzTU and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center (ACC), which operates under IDDA, in the field of cybersecurity are commendable and will contribute to enhancing the skills of students in this area. Professor Huseyngulu Guliyev, Dean of the Faculty of Energy and Automation at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in the international scientific conference on “Methodological Issues of Reliability of Large Energy Systems” held in Arkhangelsk, Russia. Professor Guliyev presented two scientific reports: “Determining the Optimal Size of Hybrid AC-DC Distributed Generation Systems with Renewable Sources for Autonomous Power Supply of Remote Areas” and “Selection of Controlled Shunt Reactors for 330 kV Voltage Electric Networks and Study of Their Operating Regimes.” The first report by AzTU’s professor focused on the theoretical and methodological aspects of applying hybrid systems based on green energy technologies for ensuring reliable power supply to remote areas. His second presentation discussed the optimal placement of controlled shunt reactors to increase the reliability of energy systems and the study of their operating regimes.
