As part of the “Strengthening the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Azerbaijani Higher Education Institutions” (ENGAGE) project, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Mingachevir State University, another training session was held in Portugal. The training was hosted by the University of Lisbon, a European partner of the project. Professor Nuraly Yusifbayli, the Vice Rector for Educational Affairs at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), represented the university during the visit. On the first day of the training program, Professor Zita Martins, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Lisbon, welcomed the delegation from nine Azerbaijani higher education institutions that are members of the project and discussed the importance of international collaboration in entrepreneurship education. As part of the “Erasmus+ KA2” program, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner in the “Strategic Quality Management in Healthcare, Risk Management in Open and Distance Education Formats for Professional Bachelor’s and Master’s Preparation in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan” (LMQS) project. Recently, training sessions were held in Athens, Greece, at the coordinating institution, the University of West Attica. AzTU was represented by Orkhan Vatankhah, Head of the International Relations Department, and Murshud Mehdiyev, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, during the visit. In line with the new Master’s program in “Quality and Risk Management in Healthcare,” the training covered topics such as healthcare management, research methods, healthcare economics, healthcare financing, quality management in healthcare, healthcare policy, and social insurance. In addition to AzTU, representatives from local project partners, including Nakhchivan State University and universities from Kazakhstan, also participated in the event.  

The symposium included panel sessions on topics such as the impact of the ICPC movement, the influence of programming competitions on the IT industry, and their role in the country’s digitalization efforts. Discussions focused on increasing student and youth interest in programming and IT fields. The high achievements of local universities in international competitions were also highlighted. AzTU’s Rector, Vilayat Valiyev, met with Vugar Huseynli during the symposium, wishing him continued success in his work.  

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, and the Department of Education System Informatization under the Ministry of Science and Education, has introduced a groundbreaking change regarding student registration. Starting this year, AzTU will no longer require paper-based documents from students admitted to the university (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs). All documents will be processed exclusively through the Ministry of Science and Education’s portal, portal.edu.az. Previously, while the registration process for higher education institutions was conducted through the portal.edu.az platform, universities still required paper-based documents from students in parallel. However, AzTU’s leadership decided to implement this innovation in order to save students time, reduce additional costs, minimize paper waste, and contribute to the country’s ongoing digital transformation efforts. As part of the Technest Scholarship Program and with the support of “ICPC Azerbaijan” and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the “ICPC Azerbaijan: Summer Programming Camp” was held at ADA University. The camp is considered one of the key stages for preparing students and student teams for the “49th ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest,” the Republic Subject Olympiad (RFO) for schoolchildren, and international informatics olympiads. During the preparation process, subjects related to the olympiad are explained daily, followed by competitions on these topics. Representatives from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) – Kenan Asgerli and Vugar Huseynli, employees of the “SmartTech” Innovators Center – successfully represented the university in the training sessions and competitions organized at the camp.  

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, met with the young participants of the “Enactus Egypt” exchange program, which was supported by the Ministry. During the meeting, the representative delegation from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), including members of the AzTU “Enactus” team and Ruslan Gambarov, the Chairman of the Student Youth Organization, shared their experiences and insights from participating in the “Enactus Egypt” exchange program. They discussed the activities they carried out and the information they gathered during their visit to the “Enactus Egypt” delegation in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Minister Farid Gayibov listened to the thoughts and suggestions of the youth, expressing his hopes for the continuity of their future activities.  

Internship is the final stage of the educational program and serves to apply the theoretical knowledge gained at the university in practice, as well as to strengthen professional skills. Students are sent to internship institutions close to their places of residence in the capital and regions, and foreign students are provided with the opportunity to do internships in their own countries. In the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, 1,542 students of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) studying in the 4th academic year of the bachelor’s degree participated in internships of 6, 21 and 30 credits, depending on their specialty. 1,179 undergraduates studying in the 2nd academic year of the master’s degree participated in scientific research and scientific-pedagogical internships of 8 credits each. Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) continues to successfully collaborate with Sakarya University of Applied Sciences in Turkey under the “Erasmus+” exchange program. As part of this cooperation, Gökhan Atalı, a faculty member from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Sakarya University, visited AzTU. During his visit, Atalı met with the academic staff of AzTU’s Mechatronics Department and got acquainted with the department’s teaching infrastructure, technical facilities, and laboratories. Discussions were held on the possibility of implementing joint projects. Additionally, Gökhan Atalı delivered a lecture to AzTU students majoring in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, focusing on specialized topics in the field.  

Another important event – “Forum of Azerbaijani engineers living in Europe”, organized by the State Committee on work with diaspora, had started its work in Germany.
