A reporting conference was held within the framework of the “Establishment of Rectors’ Conference in Azerbaijan” (ECAR) project. The conference was attended by over 100 representatives from 28 local higher education institutions, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the State Employment Agency, the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues, as well as foreign partners of the project, including Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Belgium. The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has once again made a breakthrough. With the initiative of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the company “Nokia” has opened a laboratory in AzTU. The new xPON laboratory, which started its activities at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies of AzTU, is fully equipped by “Nokia.” It is worth noting that the xPON technology allows for transmission for 5G stations at lower financial costs. The next meeting of AzTU Scientific Council was held. At the meeting, relevant tasks were given regarding the issue arising from the Decision of Prime Minister Ali Asadov “On the reorganization and approval of the Charter of Azerbaijan Technical University”. At the same time, it was decided to increase the quality of education, form scientific research works based on international standards, as well as increase technological transfer activities and university entrepreneurship. Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and “Information Valley Baku” located at AzTU, organized by a number of incubation and acceleration centers, have started the meetings related to the “GreenAgroHack” hackathon competition. The first information session of this kind was held at AzTU. As part of the “Erasmus+ KA2” program, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) participated in the “Development of Research Potential through Institutional Repositories (Digital Archives) Network in Azerbaijan” (DIRNA) project, and a visit was made to the University of L’Aquila in Italy. Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of the Library and Information Center (KIM), and Ilfat Ibrahimov, Senior Consultant on Library Systems and Digitization Processes, who participated in training sessions organized by the leadership of the University of L’Aquila’s Academic Library, represented AzTU during the visit. The training covered the implementation of the “Open Science” and “Open Access” initiatives at Italian universities, with presentations on the activities of the L’Aquila University library in these areas. The 6th international conference on “Inventive Computing and Information Technologies” was held in Bangkok, Thailand, organized by Stamford International University. Scientists and researchers from different countries of the world took part in the conference organized in an online format. The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was represented at the conference by the head of the radio engineering and telecommunications department, professor Mehman Hasanov, the doctoral students of the department, Nadir Atayev, Emin Payizov, Turana Rasullu, as well as Sahib Piriyev, associate professor of the engineering mathematics and artificial intelligence department. AzTU representatives spoke on “Adaptive monitoring of optical networks in free space using artificial neural analysis” at the conference. At the end of the conference, the participants were presented with a certificate. It should be noted that the articles selected at the conference will be published in journals indexed in “Web of Science” and “Scopus” databases.  

A meeting was held with the students studying food engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU)  and the representatives of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AFSI). The presentations were given on the topics of “Harms of sugar”, “Sugar substitutes” and “Importance of fruit and vegetables on the daily diet” at the meeting  within the campaign of the “Reduce sugar, extend your lifespan!” It was noted that the campaign is being implemented in order to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population and to encourage citizens to eat healthy, including the consumption of sugar in accordance with the norm. The Republican Cup on Alpagut Turan martial arts, organized by the Azerbaijan representative of the World Alpagut Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan National Sports Association, has ended. Togrul Zeynalli, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Energy and Automation of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in the tournament, which was represented by more than 400 athletes. Winning over all his opponents, he got the first place in the Batur system of Alpagut martial arts in the 55 kg weight class.

The Kazakh-German University in Almaty (DKU) organized a training workshop on Sustainable Lifestyles for Universities as part of the project “Sustainable Lifestyles at the Universities of Central Asia and the Caucasus.” Supported by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Tbilisi, Georgia, the workshop took place on March 14-15, 2024. During the event, Azerbaijan Technical University was represented by Natavan Namazova, head of the Institute of Sustainable Development.  At the meeting, attendees shared international and regional best practices regarding sustainable lifestyles. Discussions also revolved around potential collaborative actions aimed at fostering the development of sustainable lifestyles in the region. The ultimate goal was to contribute positively to the ongoing advancement of sustainable living practices within the community.
