“Digital Medicine 4.0: Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects” Republican Scientific-Practical Conference Held

The Ministry of Science and Education’s Information Technology Institute, together with the Ministry of Health, the Health Committee of the National Assembly, the National Oncology Center, Azerbaijan Medical University, the Information Technology Institute, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and the Biophysics Institute, organized the 2nd Republican Scientific-Practical Conference titled “Digital Medicine 4.0: Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects.”

The event gathered leaders from relevant government bodies, higher education institutions, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), scientists and experts from research institutes under the Ministry of Science and Education, and media representatives.

The conference aimed to increase awareness of critical scientific issues related to the collection, processing, and exchange of large volumes of digital health and medical data generated in Azerbaijan under digital transformation. It also focused on the creation and application of medical information systems based on artificial intelligence technologies. The event served as an intellectual dialogue platform to discuss current problems, opportunities, and prospects related to forming the conceptual and architectural-technological foundations of the country’s healthcare infrastructure in the context of Industry 4.0.

At the opening ceremony, Rasim Aliquliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director of the Ministry of Science and Education’s Information Technology Institute, emphasized the importance of the conference in discussing research, achievements, and existing problems in digital medicine, and setting new tasks.

  1. Aliquliyev highlighted the increasing relevance of artificial intelligence application in medicine amid global challenges. He also stressed the importance of training highly qualified specialists in medical informatics, data science, digital health, cybersecurity, and digital forensics in Azerbaijan.

Deputy Minister of Health, Associate Professor Nadir Zeynalov, noted the penetration of digitalization into all areas of society today. He emphasized that digital solutions open limitless possibilities in medicine and have strategic importance, especially in patient diagnosis, physician support, and more. He added that digital solutions and expert systems assist doctors in decision-making by utilizing accumulated data during difficult treatment method determinations.

The conference speeches included remarks by AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurəli Yusifbəyli, who noted the event’s significant role in creating new opportunities to solve the scientific-theoretical and practical problems of digital medicine.

The conference continued with sessions titled “Scientific-Theoretical Problems of Digital Medicine Formation” and “Scientific-Practical Problems of Applying Digital Technologies in Medicine.
