A significant achievement has been made at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in ensuring that higher education aligns with international quality standards. The internationally renowned German quality assurance agency, AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programmes), has completed the international accreditation process for a total of 20 study programs at the university, including 10 bachelor’s and 10 master’s programs.
During the international program accreditation process, a delegation of international experts from AQAS conducted four field visits to AzTU. The 20 programs under accreditation were grouped into four clusters according to their content and specialization:
- Electrical Engineering – October 29–31, 2025
- Computer Engineering and Information Technologies – December 8–10, 2025
- Mechanical Engineering – January 14–16, 2026
- Transport and Logistics – January 21–22, 2026
During accreditation, the content of the curricula, alignment with labor market demands, level of cooperation with industry, development of students’ practical skills, teaching and learning processes, professionalism of academic staff, material and technical resources, student-centered approaches, assessment mechanisms, and the functioning of the internal quality assurance system were thoroughly analyzed.
AQAS experts positively evaluated the reforms implemented at AzTU, the structuring of study programs, and the university’s continuous improvement approach, while also providing recommendations for further enhancement.
It should be noted that programs accredited by AQAS are recognized within the European Higher Education Area. This will significantly contribute to the international recognition of AzTU graduates’ diplomas, expansion of student and faculty exchange opportunities, and strengthening the university’s position in international rankings.
The results achieved clearly demonstrate AzTU’s policy of continuous quality assurance and its purposeful steps toward integration with international standards. In the future, AzTU will continue its strategic development by expanding the international accreditation of study programs and further improving the quality of higher education.
