Professor Nizami Yusubov, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Technology at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), paid a business visit to Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus – Senftenberg (BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg) in Germany.
The purpose of the visit was to expand research cooperation with BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg, discuss the results of joint scientific research projects, the research activities of doctoral students, and the publication of joint research outcomes from the Faculty of Manufacturing, Electrical and Energy Systems at BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg together with AzTU in high-quartile journals, as well as to discuss other cooperation issues.
During the visit, Professor Nizami Yusubov held meetings with Professor Wolfram Berger, Vice President for Internationalization at BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg; Professor Sylvio Simon, Head of the Metal Cutting Machines Department at the Faculty of Manufacturing, Electrical and Energy Systems; and Azerbaijani master’s and doctoral students and researchers studying at BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg.
Professor Wolfram Berger expressed his gratitude to AzTU Rector Vilayt Valiyev for 15 years of collaboration. It was emphasized during the meeting that BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg is interested in continuing effective cooperation with AzTU in the future.
Professor Wolfram Berger confirmed their participation in organizing the III International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Manufacturing and Energy: New Concepts and Technologies,” which will be held at AzTU on December 4-5, 2025, and proposed holding the next IV conference in 2027 at BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg.
As part of the visit, Professor Nizami Yusubov participated as a scientific supervisor in the preliminary defense of the dissertation of AzTU doctoral student Samir Amiril, from the Manufacturing Technology Department, on the topic “Improving quality indicators of hard-to-machine parts by hydroabrasive machining method” within the specialty 3313.01 – Manufacturing Technology, for the PhD degree in technical sciences at the Metal Cutting Machines Department of BTU Cottbus – Senftenberg.
As a result of the preliminary discussion, it was recommended that the dissertation be submitted for defense to the relevant Dissertation Council to obtain a PhD degree in Manufacturing Technology (specialty 3313.01).
Since the dissertation work is being carried out at two higher education institutions, the next preliminary discussion is planned to be held at AzTU.
