Within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and the 75th anniversary of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the II Summit Meeting of the AzTU Alumni Association was held. The event began with a one-minute silence in memory of the brave sons of the homeland who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, followed by the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.
AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev welcomed the alumni, highlighting that the event was dedicated both to the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and the university’s 75th anniversary. He emphasized that patriotism and love for the homeland have always been central values at AzTU. Students and alumni have consistently been at the forefront in defending Azerbaijan’s independence and sovereignty during both the First Karabakh War and the 44-day Patriotic War. Over its 75-year history, AzTU has also produced prominent figures who contributed significantly to Azerbaijani science, industry, and economy.
Currently, AzTU alumni are working in government institutions, private companies, and international organizations, demonstrating that AzTU is a higher education institution with rich scientific traditions that provides special attention and care to its students.
Madar Guliyev, AzTU alumnus and Deputy Director General of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute, presented a detailed report on the Alumni Association’s activities over the past year, particularly focusing on alumni employment and career development.
Rasim Aliguliyev, AzTU alumnus, Director of the Information Technologies Institute, and Vice-President of AMEA, spoke about the global importance of the engineering profession, emphasizing that engineers are in demand across all sectors. He noted that alumni should not rely solely on knowledge gained during university years but should continuously utilize the resources of higher education institutions to acquire modern engineering knowledge aligned with current global standards.
Gunel Mammadli, AzTU alumna and staff member, provided detailed information on the upcoming AzTU Alumni Platform, explaining its functionality and registration process.

Mixail Zabelin, AzTU alumnus and Member of the National Assembly, also expressed gratitude to the university leadership for organizing the II Summit Meeting of the Alumni Association.
Abil Aliyev, AzTU alumnus and former Associate Professor of the Department of Electronic Computing Machines (1988–2003), shared memories from his student years.
Turkish alumni of AzTU, including Ozcan Karavar, CEO of Kar Tem Temizlik, and Ertugrul Altintas, co-founder of Galata Medikal and CTR Group CIS, traveled to Azerbaijan specifically to attend the event and shared their student memories.
The event concluded with a performance by laureates of international competitions, Aynur Isganderli and Kenan Qadimov, soloists of the Special Exemplary Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense.
