On May 26, an event was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in connection with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Education (MSE) and the Ministry of Defense Industry (MDI) regarding workforce training for the defense industry.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev, Deputy Minister of Defense Industry Hidayat Azizov, AzTU Rector Vilayət Vəliyev, CEO of “Azərsilah” Defense Industry Holding Emil Ibrahimov, other officials from MDI and MSE, faculty and professors of the university, as well as a group of high-achieving students.
Participants first laid flowers at the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev in tribute to his memory.
At the signing ceremony held at the Heydar Aliyev Center of the university, Deputy Minister Idris Isayev spoke about the modern education system, reforms, and admission programs for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. He noted that the memorandum marks a new phase in cooperation between MSE and MDI. Isayev emphasized that the document, which includes multi-dimensional collaboration designed according to modern educational requirements, will play a special role in meeting the demand for workforce training in the defense industry, particularly for highly qualified engineering personnel equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills in new technologies.
Deputy Minister Hidayat Azizov highlighted the effective cooperation between MSE, its research institutes, higher education, and vocational institutions aimed at preparing qualified personnel for the defense industry, improving sector specialists, and further developing innovative engineering. He stressed the importance of expanding such relations, noting that the memorandum creates broad opportunities to meet the country’s priority development directions, including training highly qualified engineers in new technologies, and is of great significance for developing industry-university connections.
AzTU Rector Vilayət Vəliyev noted the successful cooperation established between AzTU and MDI. He mentioned that since 2012, under the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers and MDI, the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology has been successfully operating at AzTU, with most graduates achieving significant success and working in MDI enterprises. The rector also pointed out that a new strategy aligned with current requirements has been prepared for workforce training in the defense industry.
Afterwards, the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed.
At the end of the event, guests familiarized themselves with the technological capabilities and prospective projects created based on AzTU’s material and technical resources to implement modern educational programs.
