Within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” the III International Conference titled “Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experience and New Goals” has started its work in Mingachevir. The event is jointly organized by Mingachevir State University (MDU), Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Gazi University (Turkey), and HBN Group.
The main objective of the conference is to present the results of scientific research conducted in relevant areas, taking into account the realities of the post-victory stage following the historic success achieved through the determination of Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, and the courage of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
The conference provides a platform for scientific discussion on topics outlined in “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development” approved by the Presidential Decree of February 2, 2021, as well as the UN’s “Our World Transformation: Agenda for Sustainable Development by 2030.”
At the beginning of the event, participants visited the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Subsequently, they attended an exhibition in the MDU foyer showcasing startup projects developed by students.
The opening ceremony began with a moment of silence in memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, followed by the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.
Ilham Ismayilov, Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, welcomed the guests and wished success to the conference.
MDU Rector Anar Eminov stated that over 600 abstracts and articles were submitted by scholars and researchers from 19 countries and 24 Azerbaijani higher education and research centers. He emphasized that Mingachevir State University, as the main host of the conference, places special importance on discussing new knowledge and innovative approaches in response to global challenges. He added that the concept of “Sustainable Development” has become a key direction in defining both national development strategies and the future goals of higher education.
AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev highlighted that the conference serves as an important platform for discussing global trends in science, technology, and innovation. He noted that changes related to artificial intelligence, green energy, cybersecurity, digitalization, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution affect all sectors of society. He emphasized the importance of expanding inter-university collaboration to ensure that Azerbaijani universities adapt to these transformations.
Following the opening speeches, the conference proceeded according to the program with protocol addresses. The three-day event continues with sectional sessions.
The closing ceremony is scheduled to be held at AzTU on December 8, where the outcomes of the conference and prospects for future collaboration will be highlighted, and a final resolution will be adopted.
