A ceremony was held by the Azerbaijan Education Workers’ Free Trade Union (ATİAHİ) Republican Committee to present the “Named Scholarship” to students actively participating in education and student trade union activities.
The event was attended by Firudin Qurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education; Sahib Məmmədov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation; Araz Paşayev, Chairman of the ATİAHİ Republican Committee; Anar İsgəndərov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Science and Education; leaders of higher education institutions; teachers; and students.
The ceremony began with the playing of the State Anthem of Azerbaijan and a moment of silence in memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the country.
Speakers discussed youth policies, educational development, and social welfare measures for students in Azerbaijan. The “Named Scholarship” project was noted for its significant role in increasing students’ interest in science, education, and social activism.
Since its inception in 1995, the project has awarded scholarships to 3,179 students. For the 2024–2025 academic year, 308 students received the “Named Scholarship,” including 14 students from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) who actively participate in the Student Trade Union Committee initiatives and achieve excellent academic results.
