Three teams consisting of students from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have won the “TUSAŞ Lift Up 2024 Industry-Oriented Graduation Project – Graduate Projects” competition announced by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The teams “KarabağX,” “AeroTech AzTU,” and “VATAN” worked on diploma projects titled “Sustainability of green mechanical processing and cutting tools,” “Optimization of aerodynamic shape using reinforcement learning,” and “Reduction of residual stresses depending on the rolling direction of material in mechanical processing parts and optimization of NC programs,” respectively. These projects are supervised by Professor Nizami Yusubov, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Technology; Professor Yadigar İmamverdiyev, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity; and Associate Professor Sarvan Aziz from the Department of Manufacturing Technology.
The projects are supported by industrial consultants Görkem Çoban, Sadik Yetkin, and Alper Yeşilyurt from TUSAŞ.
The teams collectively include 10 AzTU students, among whom one is an international student.
The leader of the “KarabağX” team is Tamerlan Ahmadov, a 4th-year student in the Machine Engineering program at the Faculty of Manufacturing and Robotics; team members are Sevil Ağayarzade and İbrahim Novruzov.
The “AeroTech AzTU” team is led by Javid Asadov, a 4th-year student specializing in Information Security at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications; team members include Amin Mammadli and Əyyub Hajiyev.
The “VATAN” team leader is Seyyid Həsən Məcidli, a 4th-year student in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Manufacturing and Robotics; team members are Shamil Əskərov, Ahmet Kırbalı, and Murad Shafiyev.
Each project has a budget of 30,000 Turkish Lira.
It is noted that AzTU student teams have been participating in this competition since the 2023/2024 academic year. AzTU’s collaboration with TUSAŞ started in 2022.
