The Department of Foreign Languages ​​of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has launched a new initiative to strengthen international cooperation and intercultural dialogue between students. Under the leadership of the head of the department, Professor Sabina Almammedova, organized by English teacher Kubra Salmanova, and with the participation of active students of the university, an online meeting was held with students of the National Chernihiv Collegium University named after T. Shevchenko (Chernihiv, Ukraine).

The main goal of the event was to expand intercultural exchange, international networking, and develop public speaking and English speaking skills. During the virtual meeting, AzTU students provided information about the rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan with slides. The presentation touched upon topics such as our national music (the work of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, musical instruments such as tar, kamancha, balaban), our historical monuments (Gobustan rock paintings, Maiden Tower, Sheki Khan Palace, etc.), our national cuisine (dolma, pilaf, lavash and other dishes), and Karabakh horses.

Ukrainian students, in turn, made presentations about the historical monuments, national holidays, costumes, and cultural traditions of Ukraine. The meeting was held in an interactive environment, in a question-and-answer format, and created an opportunity for both sides to share rich cultural knowledge.
