On April 6, the 2nd Rector’s Forum of higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was held in Almaty.

Before the official opening ceremony of the forum, a meeting took place between the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, with the participation of university leaders and representatives of relevant institutions. The parties discussed current issues related to the development of intergovernmental cooperation in higher education, including academic mobility, joint study programs, and the expansion of partnership relations.

In his opening speech at the forum, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening academic relations between the two countries. He noted that ongoing initiatives have given new momentum to mutual academic activities and increased bilateral interest in educational opportunities. He added that currently 62 universities in Kazakhstan cooperate with 81 universities in Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the forum, it is planned to sign 63 new memorandums between 18 universities from Azerbaijan and 29 universities from Kazakhstan.

The minister also highlighted the growth of academic mobility and student exchange, stating that by the end of 2025, 333 Azerbaijani citizens are studying in 58 universities in Kazakhstan, while 164 Kazakhstani citizens are studying in Azerbaijani universities.

The Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, stated in his speech that the 2nd Rector’s Forum of higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is an important platform for the development of academic cooperation between the two countries. According to him, the expansion of university relations, joint programs, and academic mobility in recent years demonstrates the tangible results of this cooperation.

The minister also expressed his confidence that the new agreements signed within the forum will further strengthen partnerships and create new opportunities for students and academic staff.

The Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Vilayat Valiyev, delivered a presentation titled “Azerbaijan–Central Asia Knowledge Corridor: University–Industry–Government Cooperation Context.”

After the official opening ceremony, a signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding was held aimed at promoting academic exchange, scientific cooperation, and the development of joint educational programs.
