At the initiative of the Department of Chemistry, Technology, Recycling and Ecology of Azerbaijan Technical University, an event was carried out to reduce the harmful impact of cigarette waste on the climate.
Cigarette butts collected from the environment were sorted and directed to the recycling process. It was noted that these measures were implemented in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 13 (Climate Action).
Proper management of cigarette waste prevents the release of harmful gases and toxic substances that occur when they decompose or are burned in open environments. This contributes positively to maintaining air quality and reducing carbon emissions released into the atmosphere.
