Head of department Associate Professor Phone: (+99412) 538 33 44 Hikmet Sakhaveddin oglu Aliyev was born in 1964 in Kurdamir district. He completed his secondary education in the same district and in 1982 was admitted to the “Electrical Engineering” faculty of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute named after Ch. Yildirim (now Azerbaijan Technical University) with a specialization in “Electrical insulation, cable and capacitor technology”. He served in the Army in 1983-1985 and then continued his education, graduating from AzPI in 1989 and acquiring the specialty of “electrical engineer”. In 1989-1992, he worked as an engineer at the Institute of Olefins of the Azerbaijan Technical University, was admitted to postgraduate study and worked as a research assistant. In 1992-1996, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences In 1995, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic “Thermal conductivity of dielectric composites based on polymers-nitrides and carbides” at the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences and received the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in the specialty 01.04.10-“Physics of Semiconductors and Dielectrics”. In 1992-1995, he worked as a part-time senior lecturer at the Department of “Energy Supply and Electrical Insulation” of AzTU, from 1996 he was a senior lecturer by competition, and from 1998 he was an associate professor. In 2000, he received the scientific title of associate professor. In 2004-2008, he worked as the dean of the Faculty of “Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering”. In addition, since 2011, he has been working as a coordinator of the Tempus project “Adaptation of the educational process in engineering education for Azerbaijan to the Bologna process” (Tempus project: 516678 TEMPUS-1-2011-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPCR for the years 15.10.2011-14.10.2015.) at AzTU. Until March 2015, he worked as an associate professor at the “Electrical Supply and Insulation” department of AzTU. Since March 2015, he has been elected as the head of the “Electromechanics and Electrical Equipment” department. Since October 2019, the “Electromechanics and Electrical Equipment” department and the “Electrical Engineering” department have been merged and renamed “Electrical Engineering and Electrical Equipment” and Hikmet Sakhaveddin oglu Aliyev has been elected as the head of the department. Conducts research in the scientific direction of “Development and study of new composite materials based on polymers”. He is the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 24 textbooks and methodological aids. On December 31, 2020, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Engineer” for his services in the training of engineering personnel and the development of technical sciences in Azerbaijan. The head of the department, associate professor Hikmet Aliyev, has extensive experience in the energy system of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He has been working as a teacher at the Training Center of Azerishig OJSC since May 2012, and as a teacher at the Training Center of Azerenergy OJSC since 2020. Since February 2022, he has also been serving as the director of the Training Center of Azerenergy OJSC. Such mutual cooperation has created direct conditions for conducting part of the department's classes in real production conditions, as well as providing graduates with employment, and has led to the progress of the work planned within the framework of University-Industry cooperation.
