Power Engineering and Automatics

Electrical Engineering

General Information

The department of electrical engineering is one of the departments that has been operating since the first day of the establishment of Azerbaijan Technical University.

On February 9, 2021, by the decision of the Scientific Council of Azerbaijan Technical University, the name of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Equipment was changed to Electrical Engineering.

Currently, the department is conducting bachelor's training in the specialty of electrical and electronics engineering. In the department, from the 2023-2024 academic year, he started joint education with Turkey's Gazi University within the framework of the dual diploma program in the specialty "Electrical and Electronics Engineering" at the bachelor's level. Students accepted under this program will study the I and II courses at AzTU, and the III and IV courses at Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey. Students who successfully complete their studies will be awarded diplomas of both AzTU and Gazi University.

In addition to students from Azerbaijan, students from a number of foreign countries (Turkey, Iran, Russia, Georgia, etc.) are studying in the specializations where specialist training is carried out at the department.

Along with fundamental and theoretical knowledge in electrical and electronics engineering specialties, students undergo practical training in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. Having mastered the latest achievements of modern electrical engineering and having experience and systematic thinking allows graduates to easily adapt to the demands of the labor market and provide appropriate employment.

Most of the graduates work in the sectors of Electric power, Renewable energy sources, communication and telecommunications, banking, oil, defense industry, etc. they work as electrical engineers in the fields.

TEACHING MODEL USED BY THE DEPARTMENT

The teaching model offered by the electrical engineering department is mainly directed to the use of dual training technology in the engineering education system.
The effects of the application of dual education: In many cases, employment issues of graduates are solved (Many students stay and work in the institutions where they took practical classes);

Compliance of the training content with employment requirements is ensured (Employers prepare the sequence of training in the institutions themselves, align and agree with the theoretical training).

The issue of sufficient financing of the Theoretical and Practical Education system is solved (Funding is mainly or most of it is at the expense of the institution, including payment for students' labor (wages), consumables, assistance for material and technical support of higher education institutions). The application of the dual education form allows solving the main problems of technical education - the gap between theory and practice.
