Energy efficiency and green energy technologies

Origin history:

In 2020, the Scientific Council of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) decided to merge the departments of “Hydraulics and Heat Engineering” and “Electric Power and Power Supply Systems” to establish the new “Energy Efficiency and Green Energy Technologies” department. The department offers programs in 1 bachelor’s degree specialization, 3 master’s degree specializations, and 3 doctoral degree specializations, training specialists in the field.

Areas of activity

For the undergraduate level of education at the department 050608 - Energy engineering; for master's level 060608 - Electric power engineering; 060609 - Thermal power engineering; 060610 - Energy mechanical engineering; for doctoral level 3343.01 - Theoretical foundations of heating technology; 2002.01 - Deformable solid mechanics; 3341.01 – Specialists in the specialties of power plants (electrical part) and electric power systems are trained.

The department conducts studies in both teaching and research directions to contribute to the sustainable development of the country. The “Renewable Energy Sources” laboratory is the main direction of the department which has 2 wind turbines with a power of 2 kW each and 4 solar panels with a power of 250 W each installed on the university campus. The department also has other laboratories such as “High Voltage Technique”, “Heat Technique”, “Cold Technique”, “Thermo-Physical Properties of Substances” and “Air Conditioning” which are used to support the basic subjects of the department. As a result, the department can train engineers and scientific researchers in these fields.

A device that determines the polytropic index of air;

A device that measures the temperature sensitivity of the maximum pressure of vapor produced by liquids.

At atmospheric pressure, measure the heat capacity of air while keeping it constant.
