Scientific Seminar on Clean Water and Sanitation Held at Azerbaijan Technical University

A scientific seminar on SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, was held at the Department of Chemical Technology, Recycling and Ecology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).

The seminar was dedicated to the sustainable management of water resources, improving access to drinking water, and the development of sanitation services. The main objective of the event was to discuss existing scientific approaches and innovative solutions related to the implementation of SDG 6, identify current challenges, and strengthen cooperation between the scientific community and relevant institutions.

In his address, the Head of the Department, Professor Fakhraddin Yusubov, emphasized the global and regional significance of SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, noting that the protection and efficient management of water resources represent one of the key priorities of the modern era. He highlighted the important role of scientific research in this field and underlined that strengthening cooperation between universities and research institutions would significantly contribute to achieving sustainable outcomes. Professor Yusubov also stressed the importance of actively engaging young researchers in scientific activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Within the framework of the seminar, scientific knowledge related to SDG 6 was exchanged, priority areas were identified, and future research directions as well as opportunities for institutional cooperation were discussed. The department’s academic staff emphasized that sustainable solutions in the field of water and sanitation can only be achieved through scientifically grounded, systematic, and multilateral cooperation.
