Department of Computer Technologies

The Department of Computer Technologies was established in 2022, based on the foundation of the former Department of Computer Technologies and Cybersecurity. From the academic year 2022-2023, the department offers a dual degree bachelor's program in computer engineering in collaboration with Ankara University in Turkey. Students admitted to this program will spend their first and second years at AzTU and their third and fourth years at Ankara University. Upon successful completion of their studies, students will receive diplomas from both AzTU and Ankara University. 

Additionally, the department has secured an agreement for a dual degree master's program with «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» in computer systems and networks, and system programming. 

The department educates specialists not only from Azerbaijan but also hosts students from various foreign countries including Turkey, Iran, Russia, Georgia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. 

The faculty and doctoral candidates of the department conduct research in areas such as the security of computer systems and networks, cryptographic and steganographic protection, monitoring and assessment of security situations, methods of intelligent information search, development of distributed structured intelligent information search systems, plagiarism detection, intelligent data processing and analysis, creation of computing clouds for corporate information infrastructures, and ensuring their security, study of social networks, and smart technologies (smart city, smart village, smart home), among other topics. 

The scientific works of the department's staff are published in prestigious scientific journals, as well as in journals included in databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, Ulakbim, and others. 

Over three years, the department's staff have published a total of 132 scientific works, including 59 scientific articles and 73 conference presentations. Of these, 95 scientific works (49 articles, 46 abstracts) were published abroad, including 17 scientific works (8 articles, 9 abstracts) in sources indexed in the WoS and Scopus databases.

The medium of instruction in the department varies depending on the specialization and includes Azerbaijani, Russian, and English.
