The faculty was established in 1961 at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (now Azerbaijan Technical University) under the name of the Faculty of Automation and Computing. In 2007, the name of the faculty was changed to Automation and computer engineering. In 2019, by the decision of the Scientific Council of Azerbaijan Technical University the faculty was called Information and Telecommunication Technologies.
Education is conducted in Azerbaijani, Russian and English.
