The Department of Cybersecurity was established by the decision of the Scientific Council of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) dated July 12, 2022.
The department provides bachelor’s education in 1 specialty, master’s education in 5 specialties (5 specializations), and doctoral education in 2 specialties for the preparation of Doctors of Philosophy and Doctors of Science.
The core of the department’s faculty consists of young graduates of AzTU who are currently working in the country’s leading public and private organizations in the field of cybersecurity.
The department ensures that students studying in the “Information Security” specialty acquire fundamental and theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills and competencies that meet the requirements of the labor market. Mastering the latest innovations, practical knowledge, and skills in the field of information security, and possessing creative thinking will enable graduates to find jobs in accordance with their specialization in the highly competitive labor market.
The professors and teaching staff of the department, as well as doctoral and master’s students, conduct scientific research in areas such as information security, applied cryptography and cryptanalysis, information security management systems, artificial intelligence methods, security of smart systems, security of IoT and industrial control systems, web security, cloud security, social network analysis, biometric technologies, and others. Bachelor’s students of the department are also involved in these activities.
Information Security Specialty
This specialty teaches students how to protect computer operating systems and computer networks, as well as ways to prevent cyberattacks and protect people’s data and privacy. It also shows them ways to reduce security threats that occur in information systems by conducting regular monitoring.
