Head of department Yadigar Nasib oglu Imamverdiyev was born on November 15, 1964. In 1982, he graduated from secondary school and in the same year was admitted to the Applied Mathematics specialty of the Faculty of Automation of Production Processes at the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute (now Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University). In 1983–1985, he served in active military service in the Soviet Army (Belarusian Military District). In 1989, he graduated from the same institute with honors. From 2005 until September 2021, he worked as the head of the Information Security Department at the Institute of Information Technology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Since September 2021, he has been working at AzTU. On August 1, 2022, he was appointed as the head of the Department of Cybersecurity at AzTU. In 2006, he defended his PhD dissertation on the topic “Development of methods and algorithms for the synthesis of asymmetric cryptographic systems on elliptic curves.” In 2003–2004, he was a member of the technical working group at the Milli Majlis for the development of the “Law on Electronic Signature and Electronic Document.” In 2007, he carried out the work on the establishment of the first CERT team in the country and its recognition in relevant European organizations. He was the responsible person for the implementation of the tasks assigned to the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS within the framework of the State Program for 2007–2012 on the creation of a biometric identification system in the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2021, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Models and methods for managing information security of e-government” and on April 29, 2022, he received the degree of Doctor of Science. He has been on scientific research missions in the USA, Malaysia, Turkey, Romania, Russia, and the Czech Republic. He conducted scientific research for one year (2011–2012) at Yonsei University in the Republic of Korea and at ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) during May–July 2017. Currently, he continues his scientific research in the fields of information security, cryptography, artificial intelligence methods, biometric technologies, educational analytics, and other areas. He is the author of nearly 200 scientific articles and 8 books. He has been the leader of the following international and national grant projects: U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation, project “Testing the security of biometric systems”, 01.03.2008 - 31.08.2009 (San Jose State University, USA); National Research Foundation of Korea, project “Development of biometric cryptosystems”, 24.08.2011 - 23.08.2012 (Yonsei University, Republic of Korea); Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARP SDF), “Development of information aggregation methods in multibiometric systems”, 07.01.2012 - 31.01.2012; ARP SDF, “Development of robust approaches for biometric identification of a person by voice”, 01.05.2014 - 01.05.2015; SOCAR Science Fund, “DeepOil-ML: Development of new technologies based on Deep Learning for intelligent oil fields”, 04.01.2018 - 31.12.2018; SOCAR Science Fund, “NG-AI4Oil: Development of next-generation artificial intelligence technologies for oil fields”, 10.09.2019 - 10.09.2020; He also participated in the ARP SDF project “Development of methods and algorithms for ensuring information security in the Big Data environment and some of their applications”. Along with scientific research, Y.N. Imamverdiyev continues his pedagogical activity. Since 2003, he has been teaching doctoral and master’s students at the Education-Innovation Center of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS; he worked as an associate professor at Baku State University in 2007–2009 and in 2022, and at AzTU in 2021–2022. He has supervised dozens of master’s and doctoral students. One of his doctoral students (L.V. Sukhostat) was awarded the Presidential Award for Youth in 2017 for scientific activity. In 2010–2021, he was a member of the editorial board of the journals “Problems of Information Technology” and “Problems of Information Society,” which are scientific publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission. In 2013–2019, he was the responsible person for organizing 5 national conferences titled “Actual Multidisciplinary Scientific-Practical Problems of Information Security.” He is married and has two children.
