Alakbar Gulahmad Huseynov was born on 26 June 1956 in the Garachala settlement of the Salyan district, Azerbaijan. In 1974, he graduated from the secondary school of Kerimbeyli village in the same district.

As a result of the education policy implemented in the 1970s–1980s by the National Leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, a group of talented young people were sent to various cities of the former Soviet Union to pursue higher education. In 1979, after successfully passing the entrance examinations at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (currently Azerbaijan Technical University), he was admitted to the Moscow State Agroengineering University, where he studied full-time in the specialty of Engineering Pedagogy. In 1982, he graduated from the university with honors.

From 1983 to 1987, he continued his postgraduate studies at the Department of Machine Repair and Reliability of the same university. He successfully defended his Candidate dissertation and obtained the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.

In 2003, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Moscow State Academy of Informatics and Instrument Engineering and was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences.

Professor A.G. Huseynov is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and educational-methodological works published in both national and international journals. He is also the author of 2 textbooks, 2 teaching manuals, 7 monographs, and 2 scientific inventions.

Between 1982 and 1983, he worked as a lecturer at the Salyan Agricultural Technical School. From 1987 to 1989, he served as a Senior Researcher at the Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogy of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Since 1989, he has been working at Azerbaijan Technical University, holding the positions of assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, and professor at the Departments of Engineering Graphics, Machine Repair Technology and Reliability, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Currently, he serves as the Head of the Department of Special Technologies and Equipment at the university. Since 2010, he has also been a member of the Expert Council D 02171 operating under the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at Azerbaijan Technical University.

Professor Huseynov is also a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Vestnik Mashinostroeniya, which has been published in Moscow since 1921 and is translated into English by the Allerton Press (USA) and distributed worldwide.
